Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What's the point?

I don't see any reason to go beyond the bare minimum at AT&T right now. Promotions seem to be more about who you know than what you do and how well you do it, with nepotism and cronyism running the show. Job security is a thing of the past. Benefits are getting slashed left and right. What's the point in trying harder?

💯 I do as little as possible without being on the radar. I've lived my whole life this way and it's always produced.

Corporate Culture= Praise your leader endlessly, you will matter only if you become a 5th line, until then Praise ye the leader.

Anyone who says not working 40 hours is stealing is missing the point. We are salaried employees. We get paid to do a job, not by the hour. If I can finish said job in 35 hours but it takes someone else 45 hours. Thats on them. Maybe they socialize too much. Maybe they need to be more efficient. Maybe they need some training. Maybe they need spoken too about wasting company time and being unproductive employees. The slowpoke is the trouble. Please point out to me which of the Corp training or policies state I need to work 40 hours a week as a salaried employee.

Funniest post below.
The staunch defender of T argues like a democrat using hypocrisy to lead his argument.
The post below argues for integrity, character and accuses employees of entitlement.
THAT IS RICH. LMAO.
“The point is you need to leave before they find you and fire you.”

LMAO. Catch me if you can su-kers! The legal bear trap has been set.

Last day of our four day weekend. It is hot here in the south mowing the yard. I better go inside and move my mouse.

I work hard at everything I do, because that’s who I am.

It doesn’t matter how much I make, or if I have days off, or what anyone else does.

I do it for myself because I couldn’t look myself in the mirror every day otherwise.

“Its not a complaint though. Life has never been better. I put in about 30 hours a week. That leaves a lot of free time for family, hobbies and going to the gym. Its a nice schedule now.”

This guy has the best attitude and approach.
In a strange way I am very thankful that T made our work life so miserable. When they completely dropped the facade of respecting employees, things got so much easier for me mentally. My mindset is no longer career driven and my job has become a fun hobby to me. I punch in, do the work and go home. While some will argue that is what you are supposed to do, many of us get su-ked in to caring and bleeding t white and blue.

No longer though. As poster said, I do the same. 30 or so hours. When roadblocks present themselves I no longer take initiative for others and bail them out. T made the choice of letting go thousands and thousands of top notch employees. I’m not working harder to make the overseas team meet their deliverables. I’m not chasing down an issue that’s never been my responsibility. I’m not being the hero anymore.

Life is good. Work is a hobby. I smile and laugh again. Thank you T.

“don't see any reason to go beyond the bare minimum at AT&T right now. ”

OP….you are one of the problems at T. Always complaining about unfairness and culture and yet you have none of the characteristics you aspire to!

I'll add to it. There's no promotions unless you're in a hub. Heck, there's no jobs to lateral too if you're not in a hub. If you're in the middle or top half of your pay scale, then there is no real raise. Even if you do get a raise, its way below inflation.

Its not a complaint though. Life has never been better. I put in about 30 hours a week. That leaves a lot of free time for family, hobbies and going to the gym. Its a nice schedule now.

Unfortunately this is T culture now. Stankey and his minions created it. There is no reason to try harder. Milk T as long as you can. 99% does it everyday. Wait till they pay you to leave.

“What's the point in trying harder?

Obviously your parents did a horrible job raising you. They should have taught you about work ethic and character.”

Look who showed up again today, the HR bulldogs!
We were taught to cr-p on T by T itself. If you love what they are shoveling on your head, great. But not all of us have to sit there and take it. Some of us like our jobs but hate the sewer T has created around us. I’m not quitting. They can pay me and deal with me, just like you have to.
