Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Mother of all toxic workplaces

Our industry is definitely not famous for fostering basic decency and respect for employees. But NOV takes the cake.

It sounds like you're feeling quite disillusioned with the industry's treatment of employees, and NOV in particular. It's unfortunate when companies don't prioritize the well-being and respect of their workforce. While NOV has policies in place to promote a safe and ethical work environment, it seems that the reality might not always align with these principles.

I wouldn’t be complaining about getting 1 weeks pay per year, a lot of companies out there don’t give that. Some only give you pay up to the date you are laid off and that’s it.

I'm fed up with how layoffs are handled around here! A measly one week’s pay for every year of service? That's a slap in the face. And this non-compete agreement? Like that's enforceable! I'm just a blue-collar worker—what secrets do they think I have to steal from NOV? It’s insulting!
