Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Boise call center closing

They haven't publicly announced it but the whole boise call center location is being closed and most people laid off, only some "eligible for relocation". My partner had a meeting with some higher up lady and was told he wasn't eligible to relocate for some reason. He is one of the most tenured people there with great stats.

Op here, They did get a warn notice in December; last working day was like Dec 7th or something. Sorry for the late response.

If they gave you ANY option to relo you're doing better than 99% of impacted employees. In spite of their lies, people aren't being downsized due to their location or RTO or anything else, HY just wants to eliminate YOU, so relo doesn't further their goals and it's only offered in limited scenarios when they believe people won't take it anyway.

Hopefully they close the Salem Oregon call center soon.

Well I am in salem and can confirm we are still open. For now. Of course subject to change at any time. And the atmosphere here su-ks. Nobody wants to be here. We know the end is inevitable. So now it's in front of us but never quite here.

There wasn't a WARN notice, so there can't be that many still employed there. I think the Consumer LOB call center has less than 20 employees there. I am part of the site displacement but was not in the office, so will find out more on Monday, from an email, since my boss could only read a script & didn't have the full info. I'm guessing a 12/10 displacement date based on layoff Tues after pay day... they gave me "3 options" for relo. 1 was relocation assistance & forfeit severance, 2nd was "commute" to a site with no relo & forfeit severance (um, where is a site 40 mi from here to qualify to continue employment), 3rd was decline both other options. Bye Felicia... good riddance & good luck to those who remain to deal with the ish storm coming in 2025, that's all I can say. This company is disintegrating before my eyes.

If the location is not a core city the decision was made and communicated in January. Only unknown is when.

Wonder what the "reason" is that your source isn't "eligible" for relocation. Could it be Wells is paying him too much? Or that he isn't of Indian descent? Location strategy is a seat-of-your-pants reason to terminate.

If this is true that you care about profitability, then please explain what the deal is with:

  1. Dr. Bert
  2. The DEI line of business

Were they offered an opportunity to relocate to Roanoke, Virginia? The other call center in Virginia three hours from Roanoke is closing.

I am not sure how many people are left. He said a lot of people have been working from home but it’s been like a ghost town on some days when he’s been at the office. He said he heard the office in Salem Oregon is closing too if it didn’t already. The folks who did get relocation offers only could go to phoenix, virginia, NC or Texas.

Charlie here. The more profitable we become due to laying off high paid staff, the more Jamie wishes I had stayed.

Of course they are going offshore. If they were moving to another hub they would make a big show of it. But if they are going offshore, they say nothing.

So sorry to hear. Seems like the pace of layoffs are picking up speed. How many people in the call center? Have they said if the jobs are going offshore?
