Actually, 08/25/2022 R.I.P. for my career, officially.
It was really over before that when I broached the subject of promotion with my manager during a 1-on-1. She hemmed and hawed about how much more work was involved, and it was then that I knew my career had plateaued and I was going nowhere.
So, thankfully I knew not to go above and beyond anymore and simply collected my check until the axe fell 8 years later.
