HUB bldg vs Ford Leadership

That huge ugly HUB building will be an Eye Sore of Dearborn for next 100 years. It is reflective of the leadership chaos during Hackett/ Farley times. Such a lost opportunity for over $1 Bil expenditire. Why is that bldg so close (20 feet?) to Oakwood street - given that there is so much open space inside the campus. By placing that bldg further inside the campus would have opened up a nice frontage between HUB and Oakwood street ... Ford could have made that space appealing with sitting benches, trees/streams, Ford memorabilia etc etc... Outsider visitors would have walked thru that space to get their cup of coffee and Ford goodies, while getting immersed into Ford legacy.. Sadly, during 2020 thru 2023; Ford had leadership changes (Ford C-suite as well as Ford Land) and Ford leaders lost track of the vision .... Now Ford is stuck with a huge ugly bldg while people want to wfh and resists coming to offices. Instead of networked smaller historic buildings, Ford now have a very centralized massive bldg, reflecting HQ type central governance mindset of senior mgmt... 125 + yrs of legacy thrown out bcz some weak leaders like Hackett/ Farley decided to ape and follow tech companiess instead of charting their own unique path into future. Band of Weak vison-less Ford leaders... up against firecly competitive forces (Musk, Japan, Korea, Germans, Tech Giants, etc !!)... Future generations will not know the name "FORD" since it would have been acquired by someone. Tragic End of an American icon ?? I hope some kid working in American garage will show up to replace these gutless bureaucrats, who can not even get their employees back in offices. Ford will still be alive for next 100 years if that happens...Hope it happens.

Well it is very clear the company senior management continues to dump money on outside (Dearborn or US) facilities which means work will continue to migrate south or across the ocean. Train station was a real waste.. What is that building? what is its purpose? heard to many different takes on it.

The problem with the PDC campus is it went through three different CEOs, smart redesign, project Conway and the pandemic. How do you expect anything to be cohesive? If memory serves: DTE was pi---d that they built that power plant there as it was supposed to be fully integrated into the campus but was not. You have 2x parking decks that are lost in space that were the start of it. Now you have this HUB building which is more : “Hey, we knocked down part of PDC we have to do something…” they should have shutdown the whole project during the pandemic, regrouped after things ramped up again… Even the roads on the campus are messed up; based on a master plan that never happened.

OP: are you an architect? An urban planner? I actually find this design the best possible outcome unlike the train station which was nothing more than pet project.

@1wup+1uLzaGyD you are the clueless one. We are in an age of moving beyond the confines of gigantic brick and motor monuments and outdated business practices.

Hideous monstrosity that casts a dark shadow. Totally reflective of the leadership at Ford. The ugly visual lets the community know what Ford is all about. Soul su-king vibe of a building.
