Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What Does It Tell You?

“Final thought, about accountability. Readers who have followed the story will know that Stankey, the senior AT&T executive quoted above, is now the AT&T CEO. He was clearly very closely connected with the DirecTV deal and tasked with important parts of its execution — and he was integral to the Time Warner deal, as well. Both deals were very big and turned out quite badly. Stankey got promoted. That tells you something about AT&T.”

Yes indeed, it tells you something. Last paragraph about recent DTV sale.

I agree with you!! Most promotions I’ve seen are to get people outta the existing group. So crazy, promote on incompetence not intelligence.

Att firings of individuals for performance the last 20 years are generally very difficult and involve a ton of process. The only way you can get rid of a sc4mbag is to promote them out of your group. Most long term leaders at att are those cast asides. Legg was probably Warner’s dump off.
