Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Those who got displaced, were you rated poorly?

Just curious folks that have been let go not because of RTO, if you were let go working from a core location. Can you please share? . I hope you all will find a better place than this sh-t place. I am also curious if it happened a specific day of the week like most post I have seen mention Tuesday layoffs, is that true?

YES -- without my knowledge!!!

I was laid off in June. I had already finished my part of my review. My manager uploaded my completed review exactly 30 days later -- he probably didn't think I still had access to the system. I was not notified that he had uploaded it, nor was I able to appeal it.

The review was a complete lie and completely undeserved. I'm sure it was done that was as justification for my layoff.

They can occur at any time. They are designed to make you leave. The upper management gives us several reasons for the layoffs. One is "location strategy". At first, this was consolidating locations -- for collaboration. But then they (ex JPM managers) open up new locations, one in Ohio with 350 new tech positions! The location strategy is loosely tied to RTO.
Another reason is "efficiency". This is likewise ambiguous and is loosely tied to offshoring. You would think that the layoffs are tied to the stack ranking/performance review. There are some cases of "rank and yank" but they are few. More laid-off people were training their P&I replacements when let go.

The management has not defined any end to this layoff / efficiency/ location strategy. In my opinion, they have made this bank the most psychologically unsafe place to work. They want to save on severance costs by getting people to leave voluntarily.

No, but they will be on their final review to check the box of adhering to the bell curve.

I am a manager who had to displace employees this year. It was on a Tuesday after payday impacting employees in core and non-core locations. Performance was not a consideration.

Nope. Exceeds for 2023 and consistently exceeds for 2024 midyear. THEY DO NOT CARE!

I can help here. What you have to remember here is that our senior leaders don’t think this strategically to the point of thinking “we should try to lay off bad performers and retain good performers.”

There is no correlation whatsoever. Never has been over the past 5 years they’ve been doing aggressive layoffs.
