Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The Sales of AT&T

I'm in sales and truth be told, I want to be out asap, this is ridiculous. I understand convergence, but they really are having unrealistic expectations, how are we supposed to get good customers if they expect us to do customer service, and get no support at all from L2's and L3's. It's unfortunately where I'm located, I have to su-k it up or leave. I can't do this any longer. I don't know about you all, but give some advice.

I don't know how other markets are, but I'm praying for us.

Most of this company is headed toward outsourcing and offshoring...that's a fair statement. Some AT&T leaders would say, "Don't call it offshoring. The workers in our India and Israel development centers are OUR employees. They are AT&T employees.
Don't call it offshoring!"

Should a company be run efficiently, cost-effectively and to the benefit of its shareholders? Yes.

Do we want to be protectionists? Do we want to be isolationists? The lesson of history is that if we try to isolate ourselves and bury our heads in the sand, then it will ultimately come back to bite us on our @ss.

Guess it boils down to what one believes: Is there something special about America? Is there something about the United States of America that makes it unique and a beacon to the rest of the world?

OR is it all just a zero-sum game? Let me get mines and don't worry about you or anyone else?

The company is on shaky ground. The country is on shaky ground. The world is on shaky ground.

Beware the false prophet who brought forth the plague and a famine in recent times.

Most of this company is heading to outsourcing. That business model applies to sales through Solutions Providers, starting aggressively with small/mid sized accounts and eventually expanding across even enterprise.

For anyone that has pride on what this company used to provide and accomplish, it is a bad master plan. For anyone that cares about gutting costs and employees, it is a good one with strong short term gains.

AT&T will get down to a low number of employees, but their customer base and revenues will also slowly become a fraction of what it once was. Will it remain profitable in the long run? TBD.

Sadly, AI hasn’t informed leadership that sales, ala revenue, will suffer from gutting the experienced resources it depends upon.

Move on at the first opportunity.
