I’ve seen it over and over. Selling lies to get promoted. When the lies are exposed and the house of cards falls apart there is no accountability. Short term deceptions eroding performance of the company but benefitting the pockets of those involved. How many hipo careers consist entirely of a series of failed snake oil marketed well that cost the company serious money.

Oh it’s deeper than that. Our boss requires a monthly meeting with one note so she can pick and choose items we worked on to carry upward and present “her” ideas and work. Even went so far as going to other sites lying to them and telling them what contractors to use. One sick demented person
Spoon Theory to deliver bad news.
Cuz I got bad news for you. It’s all a game. Everyone’s playing it. It’s not what you do, it’s what it looks like you do. That’s it. You’re not mad there’s a game, you’re mad people are better at the game than you. In the words of My old supervisor “welcome to the new game, get used to it” all you’ve gotta do is deliver 2-3 decent things a year and you’re golden. Do literally nothing else.
