If you read news like this and rejoice because it's happening to "someone else", keep in mind that a very large majority of people being downsized are ICs. HY is coming for all of us. We shouldn't be infighting when the real battle is with Hudson Yards.

@1ufv WF's version of efficiency is overpaying for managers while laying off the folks who actually produce.
At first, I was going to disregard this. Unlike Wells Amazon's Jaffy has introduced a key metric of efficiency: the ratio of individual contributors to managers. I haven't heard anything like that at Wells. In fact, I haven't heard of any KPIs or objectives of what "efficiency" means at Wells. Maybe there are some ... I don't know since as a contributor I was let go early on the process.
I suspect the management is holding back of the real efficiency plan for a bad earnings release. Then they will release their statements.
What does this have to do with WF and layoffs?

Just another phase in the project to get rid of the domestic workforce. "Legacy managers" might attempt to protect "their people" from layoffs. Can't have that, so they gotta go. You will now report to a guy in I&P, who can't wait to replace you with more I&P people. Have a problem with it? Call the new/improved HR dept, in India.
Most so-called managers are nothing but roadblocks. The fewer the better.

If they can get rid of 14,000 managers now they seriously over hired during Covid. RTO will force some out. And others will be exposed. It’s much harder to hide the fact that you don’t do any actual work in an office.
So companies now are eliminating managers so they make non-managers do their work for less?
But who will play the role of company ge----o and make sure everyone is in the office five days a week and collaborating? 300K/year for RTO enforcers is a wise and judicious use of resources. These management superstars are essential. Eliminate the lazy individual contributors and outsource as much as possible to India sounds like a more sound strategy.
