Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

BNY keeping offices in Lake Mary open until last minute

Another example of this company being run by a bunch of brain dead Neanderthal‘s, they refuse to just close the Lake Mary office. They said people can WFH if desired but why hang on? Gotta collect those swipes that badly? And don’t you dare leave the office early if you need to prepare. Your departments simpleton, no college education director may try to track your IP. I despise this place!

Since the layoffs last month, LMhas no backup for certain processes in some areas. Access can take months and a lot of training to even be close to independent. Should the people in LM lose power or internet for even a day, the Bank will be put at risk without contingency for these processes. Those of us that were here during 9/11 and other catastrophic events know that contingency sites like Oriskany basically kept the Bank out of serious trouble. Now the powers that be just went ahead and mandated layoffs with no plans for how to keep things going in events like this.

only reason why they finally are closing it is because the landlord is closing the building

Let's hope Hurricane Milton destroy the Lake Mary BNY Mellon office buildings. I am loyal to the end, sinking with the BNY Mellon ship in Lake Mary. I see feathers....

I’d been happy to pick up the extra work from my teammates to ensure everyone in Lake Mary has the time needed to prepare and be safe. Wait, never mind, they laid me off last month and replaced me with someone in Lake Mary…

I think there are hopes that they can offer some of us to up as a sacrifice to the storm gods in exchange for a favorable stock price this quarter. Jack Welch is laughing up at us from he-l

WFH lol if they all lose power while WFH then what? I guess they expect the rest of us that they deemed not necessary at non growth centers to pick up any slack. They’re probably using this event as a learning experiment. They have 1.5 empty buildings in Wilm! Didn’t they used to fly them up to Boston or somewhere north?

Lake Mary is the d-mbest place to have a hub office. All corporate trust professionals are in Jacksonville and other financial centers in Florida are in Tampa or Miami. It’s no wonder why BNY can’t find enough professional finance employees to staff the Lake Mary office. Also it is a terrible location in the middle of Florida (not near Disney) with awful traffic and very little to offer! BNY needs to immediately rethink its misguided location strategy! However, I do wish the folks in Lake Mary the best with Milton.

Family and your life is more important than a swipe. Use an approved in office exception and gtfo.
