Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Rto for contractors

Why are contractors exempted from rto ? So that they can do side hustles during office time ? This is not fair to ask to employees to rto where as contractors can work remotely.

All will RTO by end of 2026. All contracts are two years max which is before then. Happy?

OP needs to worry about themself and not what others are doing. FRTO. I’ve been told I have to for 2 years now and have yet to face any consequences.

This just goes to emphasize that one key part of RTO is to drive attrition. Don't need to worry about contractors as can get rid of them easily. Just want to make life hard on current teammates.

Yes I know there are other reasons, tax breaks from cities, bad managers that don't know what to do with remote workers, commercial real estate value etc. But the fact that contractors don't need to come in tells me this is about driving attrition right now.

Depends on the contract and what we’ve asked them to do. Some engagements are entirely off site.

You can't treat a contractors like an employee you idi0t. If you do that then the IRS will reclassify them as employees and come after you for taxes.

Because the contradiction negatively impacts morale, and that's HYs primary objective right now.

Contractors do whatever is in their contract. It will stipulate where they need to be and what they are paid to do. They can be cut anytime, with little or no notice (thankfully) no Wells Fargo benefits, etc.
