Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Working at BNY

Working at BNY means having to juggle three people's jobs for one salary, with no work-life balance in sight. In addition, you’re constantly worried about layoffs, getting little to no support from management, and receiving zero recognition for your efforts. Such a fun place to work, right?

It’s not hard. It’s a stupid custody bank with little technology and less competent leadership than ever before. Come in, sit like a lump and leave.

The comment that working at BNY means having to juggle three people's jobs for one salary, with no work-life balance in sight. In addition, you’re constantly worried about layoffs, getting little to no support from management, and receiving zero recognition for your efforts. These comments were spot on. I experienced this at Oriskany with inept, apathetic & lazy managers & supervisors.

Everyone should be mad at what they're paying all those analysts they keep bringing in. 60k plus to start with zero experience and we all have to train them and dont make that. Now thats a slap in the face

The office has changed. I see it at the water cooler. I feel it in the industrial flooring. I smell it in the manager's coffee breath. Many processes that once worked are lost, for none now work here who remember them.

Love how they’re getting us ready to cover Lake Mary at a moments notice while telling us at the same time that we mean nothing to them since we aren’t a growth center. Like I will do as little as possible.

I agree. Its alot of hand holding other teams too and telling them what to do. Only to find out they are getting paid more than you and getting large bonuses for doing nothing. This place is a joke

But free coffee and a one off ice-cream!! And Robin doesn't work Saturdays.

Yeah agreed this place is awful. Expectation to go above and beyond but no appreciation for it. Quiet quitting until you find something new is only solution.

I hate working here but I cant leave unless I get another job but the market is terrible for people with 3-5 years of experience in the engineering space.

Spot on! I'm far from having a 9-5pm mentality but have started putting my foot down and logging off at the time that I'm paid to work till (this is a huge part of the problem in this place).
People logging on at the crack of dawn, working late into the evening, weekends, holidays.
The more you give, the more they'll take!!
