Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

How many shares do you have, how many have you gotten the last few years, and what level are you?

I'm L7, have 4000, gotten 1200+ yearly

Just remember managers decide who get shares and some always give the shares to their pet employees so performance may not be a factor

Chairman shares vest in December but don't come until your April paycheck. Does anyone know if you need to still be working by April or if you can leave before that and still get them?

Chairman shares vest over 2 years and they gain value every quarter based on the performance of the company.
Say you have 1000 shares, the average quarter for the past couple years has been around $2.70-$3 so each quarter the shares would gain $3 each so effectively about $3000 per quarter. Over 8 quarters (2 years) 1000 shares would be around $24,000 which gets paid out in march of the following year that you vest (get shares 12/01/2022 -> vest 12/31/2024 -> paid out 03/15/2025)

1200+ shares allocated to a single person, your manager must be an id--t not knowing how to maximize the effects of the limited shares.

If you have several “top performers” or your manager favors certain ppl, the share will be rare and/or small.
You want shares, be the top dog and friend on a terrible squad, but then you end up carrying the entire squad and still may not recover any if you’re not the favorite. Don’t include shares in any career decisions.

For the people who haven’t gotten them, they are strategic. Do you have a lot of older people on the team that have maxed out their pay grade? They get shares over you to keep them happy because they don’t get raises. A lot of times, pay at fidelity is NOT tied to performance.

Don’t feel bad about not getting shares, but also don’t destroy your life trying to hit a made up target that you are set up to never hit. It might not be you, don’t go as above and beyond. It’s going to set you up for failure and burn out.

It’s not just me. It’s a whole department of people who don’t see them
Even when the % one year was so much higher to give out

top 15% get shares. look at the top performers on your team and honestly ask yourself how you compare…

they work the tough hours. they take the messy/tough projects. they are more technical than you. they don’t shy away from unfamiliar situations. they ask for new work.

do you?

I got them once in my current BU, the first year. Never again and everyone else says they don’t get them either. Down here are they going? This includes when other BUs had a higher % of them to give out in a recent year. I guess WI is decent with them. My specific group in “PI”, nope. Probably go to salespeople or leaders. I have heard directors can’t get them but I doubt it. But now we have managers. Everyone says they never get them here. Sketchy as he-l.

Ha in Albuquerque all we get is chairman's shares .. didn't get any my first two years. They gave me 130 for the last two years. So enjoy the profit sharing because us brown people don't get it.
