Looking for genuine advice. I may have an opportunity to come back to Big Blue after a 10 year absence. Was there previously for almost 2 decades. Part of me would love the opportunity to come back (as I used to bleed blue) another part feels like I will be re-joining yet another US corporate $hit$how (am in one at present and getting tired of it). I’m an aging techie, and enjoy focusing on the clients and tech, but I am totally over the corporate BS and insecurity of regular RA’s. I have another decade to go before retirement. Looking to understand how IBM is these days. Comments appreciated.

Hey OP, if you are still bleeding blue, you might have a rare blood type - why don't you contact the good ol' American Red Cross and see if they will take a pint or more of your blue blood ? The going rate is around $300 per pint as they mentioned it. It's seems that freebie donations are out of question.
Sorry, but you cannot barter your blue blood for a job though. That's not how it works...
First, thanks for the 20 year you gave to IBM. You helped the company grow and in turn supported alot of retirees. For those reasons alone, you should be commended. Once an IBMer, always an IBMer.
That said, all corporation evolve and change. The company you worked for 10 years ago has moved on. And probably alot of people you knew, have moved on too. So you'll need to rebuild your network and build up your visibility again to secure your future.
A couple of practical suggestions. If you are a former US employee, your years of service will be continued if you re-start at IBM . This could be helpful in a few ways:
(1) If you are on the old pension plan, ask how this will help your ultimate payout
(2) If you were one of the people who has a small pension and a 401K, there is probably no change because your pension is capped already, but worth asking
(3) For your Future Health Account -- call the NetBenefits helpline at Fidelity and ask
them what is on your account and if coming back would increase your payout
Good luck to you!
In this RA environment, OP is a troll
Thanks for the feedback - it sounds $hit. I suppose you can never go back. And what’s with all the downvotes? (Snap out of it sycophants, you won’t be safe either).
Of course, it is common knowledge that Alvind is a Dinosaurus himself, but who's checking these days ?

Looking for genuine advice ?? Really ??
Maybe you should look at this link first ---> @OP+1use0sUm
(yes it's still out there, Alvind hasn't taken it down yet)
"Retired from IBM but thought of rejoining" is the name on that link
Unless you are a glutton for punishment, you're wasting your time. As someone posted a comment on that link "It is like an ex-con who decides he'd rather go back to prison... "
That sums it all...Life is better After IBM
IBM is dying
