Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Don't TOUCH THE BUTTONS

We were just informed that managers operating any vehicle that may contain buttons, levers or any mechanical switches to refrain from touching them. After the vehicle accidents within the last few days the company realizes they have a 3rd class of employee that is inept.

Dr. Phil, I appreciate your management approach to psychoanalysis but once again you stepped on your foot. I will agree the supervisor is a terrible person with no leadership skills. I think the overall issue is that person is still in that role and was backed up by everyone up the chain of command therefore it could be claimed they are all rotten to the core. I concur that the word inept is correctly used in this case and your misguided defense of terrible management is typical.

Why would anyone operate any equipment without proper training and take exception to being called inept? The techs with training were referred to as 2nd class. Were they not to take exception?

Yet another thread with one side making a poor attempt at bashing the other. One big dysfunctional family. ------ What family are you referring to, the family that docks employees pay for unlocked vehicles when theirs is found to be unlocked, the family that lies because no one can dispute them, the family that uses that phrase "I am the boss", the family that publicly resorts to racial attacks because they are protected and the company defends them. I could go on but I'm curious, What world do you live in?

Ah, I see. So you happened to have a terrible manager. No leader, just a manager, and a terrible one at that. And because of them, you unfortunately have this impression that the management are all like that. Not on your side. Something like that?

Let me tell you a secret, probably 80+% of "managers" don't have and never had any direct reports. They're specialists in other areas, who are called managements, obviously have no Union protection, and are easily disposable whenever needed. They don't want to do your job just as much as you don't them to. Unlike the union members, if they don't go, they will be fired. They have to cross the picket lines. And they don't deserve to be called names or doxed online for it.

Or called inept for not being able to operate equipment they have no real training or any experience with.

I can tell from your comment about monkeys, grenades, denying the 2nd class employee statement (documented)

Documented where? In a bs union statement? Yeah, that's a reliable source.

“I might be able to figure out the CO” It’s really not like that. If you don’t know you have friends that do know that’s how it is for the untrained union folks. You do not figure it out without help no matter how smart you are.

I guess 3rd class working for a 3rd rated company is par for the course but not as good as 2nd class working for a 3rd rated company.

I can tell from your comment about monkeys, grenades, denying the 2nd class employee statement (documented), exaggeration of severance and lunch breaks you are under duress of being "forced to work a job not theirs". I once had a boss stressed like that. Poor fella. You really should get a check up and keep watch over that blood pressure.

Yeah, you are right, I'm not a monkey just a little sensitive since my supervisor dropped the N word in front of the crew. Thanks for explaining.

Hey hwh+1, I'm not a monkey, I have employees with cs education and I know for a fact some DA company rep made that statement. Sounds as if your triggered, maybe you should seek medical attention. I care.

Actually no one called YOU a monkey, the statement was about generally asking employees to do stuff they've never done before, and see how great they do it. It is kind of funny you assumed it was referring to you;) A lot of projection in your post, I hope you're getting the help you obviously need.

If anyone is working in the CO’s and aren’t going to dispatch or do any work, that’s ok we will be back soon. If you get bored, would please do what cleaning you can like, restrooms and floors? The CO’s are nasty, the company pays contractors to do the bare minimum in the restrooms only, most times there aren’t any supplies so beware, you’ve been warned! I would use plenty of sanitizer. We don’t have time because we are too busy running around from office to office during our shifts, working all the tickets, TEO’s and weekly/monthly routines.

Thanks in advance if you clean!

My wife says I know where the buttons are. My 20+ years in various telecomm tech roles suggests I might be able to figure out the CO.

I'm actually looking forward to getting back to the physical layer.

"inept"? Dude, everyone is good at their own stuff. Don't be so smug about it. I'm willing to bet if they were to put you behind one of those managers' computers, you would look like a monkey that just discovered a grenade, too. Also, it's kind of ironic you guys spent a week crying about being called "a second class employee", which never happened, or if it did, the union never showed any proof, and you just go and casually start insulting some managers who were forced to work a job that's not theirs, because apparently 2 years of severance and 15 required lunch breaks per day is not enough for you, hard-working people.
