Wars and economic uncertainty around the world suggests recession is unavoidable and Cisco will be impacted as will many companies in the next couple of years minimum
What has downturn got to do with Cisco layoffs? Cisco lays off people irrespective of macro economic situation. They have consistently laid off people during good economy and bad ones. The two have absolutely no correlation. Cisco announced blowout numbers in August 2022 but started layoffs anyway.
Cisco layoffs are directly connected to the greed of the management. Nothing to do with broader economy.

It is a combination of both but Cisco has a history of yearly layoffs and constant restructuring which has done nothing to its stock price and market cap. There are so many trillion dollar companies now where Cisco pales in comparison. Have to wonder what we have achieved with so many constant cuts other than instability , brutal attrition , constant stress & panic among employees. Now we are doing this every six months for past few years, we are sinking faster than a titanic.
Perhaps it could happen given overall US economic conditions. Honestly would not surprise me if February is a very large one as a result
