WTF is this sh-t? Is this even legal?

My CP crew is the $hit. We are PING testing all week at Nacogdoches Country Club. We close out the day’s WFA tix at the 19th hole. 🕳️
Okay, I know you guys will downvote this comment to heck, but here goes the truth. Legal, not legal... told about, or not, none of that matters. None of you have to do anything you don't want to be doing. Quite literally, they ask you to go, you can just say no. It's that easy. You will need to find another job, of course, but it's your choice. Oh, what was that? But you like your job? Even need it? Well then, maybe you should consider making a small sacrifice of some time and comfort to ensure your job remains secure. The more the company loses in this whole thing, the more people will be surplussed next, and it might be you, so, again, the choice is yours.
And no, I'm not a company man. I was laid off over a year ago.
You’re a manager. It’s legal.
You go outside, put on your hardhat and write "no trouble found" or "Cleared while testing" then go for a steak dinner on you AMEX. Repeat as necessary.
I’m playing golf tomorrow. Please don’t call me from your work assignment. I don’t want to hear your complaints.
Call the labor department.
"Just don't go. Who gives a sh-t?"
Don't go and you can be fired. However, you don't have to do anything. If you are forced, just fu-k it up to where the person in charge doesn't dare send you out again.
And use every dollar they give you for food!
It "may" vary by state----but I do not believe forced overtime without compensation is legal in most states. I know way back in the day, that they used to pay OT to the managers covering on strike duty.
I am confident that someone being forced to do this will look into it. As they should.
Unfortunately the company gives a sh-t. Unless you really want to try “well, they can’t fire all of us”
As a manager, yes.
Just don't go. Who gives a sh-t?
Will you at least get OT? Look up flsa laws. My understanding is that break/fix, install work would be non exempt, overtime eligible. See if you can find out if the position you are filling in for is non exempt. If it is, ask why you wouldn't be eligible for ot as someone working in that role.
We used to work 12-14 hours day 6 days a week, every week. But we were getting paid. The Evil Empire isn’t gonna let an opportunity to sc--w someone over pass. Ride around lost all day. I learned a long time ago that this company doesn’t care about any of us…..technicians, managers, or customers. Don’t ki-l your self for a company that doesn’t give a damn.
When I joined Cingular, no one told me anything about CP or strike duty. My guess is that it is never talked about in interviews and comes up when you get your assignment as "oh yeah, this is part of being a manager" like its obvious. I also complained greatly when I had small children. Now, well, I wouldn't be happy to be shipped off to someplace else, but I've also learned. You have to go, you have to be there the hours they say, but you don't have to do a damn thing. Tell the manager the training su-ked and you don't know what you are doing. If they still make you handle a ticket, cut something you shouldn't. They won't make that mistake again. Bring a good book and snacks.
Stankey doesn't care about any of us, bargained or not. He can go f--- himself.
I just got some TaylorMade ones with my last severance check:

Ping is ok. Callaway's are nice. I like the minimalist look though.
Go for the most expensive, that's more impressive at the Club.
Recently surplused manager here. Just got the severance. What iron sets would you all choose? 2024 - Callaway or Ping? Apex irons look sweet, but I hear great things about Ping. Thoughts?
Obviously a lot of new(er) employees here otherwise, you wouldn’t be surprised by the CP hours. This is standard operating procedure, nothing new. I would hope non-exempt mgrs are getting OT. I believe that’s the only legal requirement.
Is that considered 2nd or 3rd class employee? If I were you I would strike, Oh sorry.
It's a vacation.
gaining back all those costco hours lol
Don't worry, just tell your CP manager that your training su-ked, you haven't touched a cable or piece of fiber in 15 years, and that you really don't know what you are doing. The closest you will come to an x-connect box is made my Microsoft.
As a member of the union and a technician a 12 hour day is not unusual. Neither is a 6 day workweek. Not being paid extra now I wouldn’t do that.
Leaving our families, leaving our homes, for god knows how long to work 60% more without a way to compensate their managers except saying you get to keep your job.
GFY!
They’re demanding an extra 24 hrs a week without any compensation from their contingency managers?
Thats 60% more work for no increase in pay?
Are they crazy?
Oooooh yeah goodbye summer!! Slave to the T
LOL
Welcome to management!
