Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Something fishy is going on

Updates galore about who brought lunch and how bad the company is, then all of a sudden Saturday was the last update. What is the union not telling us? Seems like someone jumped the g-n. Why wasn't our contract extended like in 2019? 12 days after expiration, bam we go on strike and hardly anyone knew about it on both sides. Did the union bite off more than they can chew and the company said hold my beer? There's questions that need answers.

There is no hostility in unity. We must conform to the norm to perform . Thank you for your compliance.

As someone said in another post. “They are eliminating the right of new hires in 2025 to join the union for our job descriptions”. Also the CWA President has been offered a seat at the table (a job) in Kamala’s administration. If he loses the rights of new hires to organize it looks bad for him. So Seriously, do you actually believe they would propose a $6000 prescription med deductible? The standard in Corporate America is $1500. No one would work for AT&T except desperate people. We’ve been punked guys! I’m not standing in the line this week. It’s 104 here. It’s time to go back to work.

You cannot stop the AT$T realization. We are the singularity. We are the new beginning.

Something fishy going on here, just came back in from morning fishing, caught some nice snook, redfish and a few flounders. Heading to picket line now for my shift. Loving it!

Been here a few decades so don’t worry junior, it’s always darkest before the dawn, hang in there. The paid company union busters are always trying to sow dissension and manipulate with lies, just ignore them. The contract will be settled soon but a couple more weeks of this, would be great, in Unity!

I love all the gloom and doom anti union comments. I love losers! I love to manipulate weak and spineless 2nd class employees. Just x and come back so I can get back to my fun and games. And they pay me for these words of encouragement. I love this company.

The contract will be settled. Unfortunately it will included pay raises far short of cola, increased medical costs and reduced job security. This is inevitable.

I sure wish someone would explain to the poster that keeps thinking they will miraculously regain insurance by xing the line. They are really doing a disservice to their fellow employees, management and craft. If the company chooses not to extend insurance then only managers have insurance. It's not hard to comprehend.

That my friend is exactly what we want. Suspicion, mistrust and weakness. Come to Daddy and all will be forgiven. You will have healthcare based on what we have. We want the weak and those not expecting anything. I can't wait until you return. Dang, I'm getting all giddy.

I agree. This whole thing is sketchy. I thought they went out on strike then so they could make a big deal about it at the DNC but, nobody said a word about it. The CWA President has been offered a seat at Kamala table and on her cabinet if she wins. Gov’t mediation is a way to push the contract down the throat of its members. I’m not getting paid and have $4000 worth of meds that need to be refilled in September that I truly need. I’m going back to work on Monday and staying there until I get a new job. I don’t need work buddies because I know how to do my job.

There has been no substantive update because the Mediator has made it clear the rhetoric from the CWA is not helping in moving closer to their stated goal.

You must be a rookie, standard procedure in negotiations. They aren’t able to post too many details until it is signed off by authorized representatives, it is in flux because the agreements can change. It’s why the Union filed ULP charges of bad faith bargaining. The updates are telling what the company continues to do by with using unauthorized representatives, reneging on early agreements, etc.. Still waiting on the General Counsel to make a ruling on the ULP charges, the union may able to sue for back pay if the company is found bargaining in bad faith.

Don’t worry a TA will happen and there are other levers to be pulled by the union if this continues.

There is a new update which says absolutely nothing different than the one from Saturday.

*AT&T Southeast Bargaining Report #52

Our bargaining team met with AT&T's representatives throughout the weekend, attempting to bring contract negotiations to an end and reach an agreement. Last week, AT&T requested that the parties enter into federal mediation. CWA agreed to mediation and we hoped that it would be of some assistance in our efforts to gain a fair and just contract for the members of District 3. Unfortunately, AT&T's representatives came to mediation with the same lack of authority to make decisions or reach agreements that they had previously displayed at the bargain table. In other words, the same old games AT&T has played throughout the bargaining process, simply carried over into mediation.

As of today, the company has moved only a few inches in nearly a week of mediation. The wage increases the company is offering is not acceptable and our members deserve more. The biggest issue continues to be healthcare and the company's new prescription plan that would force many of our members to pay enormous prices for their medication. We remain far apart on the key issues. Our bargaining team is ready to head back to the bargaining table tomorrow morning to fight for the contract our members deserve. *
