Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

If you hate working at Cisco so much...

It seems like there are a few people on almost every post expressing dissatisfaction and even hoping to be let go. If you're truly unhappy working here, I suggest reaching out to your manager or HR to discuss joining a list for the next round of layoffs. This way, those who still enjoy working here can retain their jobs while you get the outcome you're looking for.

Seems that many are miserable due to clueless Chuck refusing to resign

Cisco's software has been garbage for all time and the first step of laying off everyone involved in creating that mess seems obvious until you ask the question "how do I find competent staff that would take the job to fix everything when there is far more money and career growth to be had creating something new at other companies?" The best of the best aren't seeking to be Chief Extinction Officer or the people with buckets and shovels following the horses in the parade.

Look at HPE. Their revenue of $28.31B is less than DEC's inflation adjusted revenue from 30 years ago ($13.451B adjusts to $29.67B) and that's just one of many companies HPE acquired. IBM's 1994 revenue was $64.1B which is above it's $62.36B revenue today without adjusting for inflation. This is the nature of legacy businesses.

113 down votes against "take responsibility for your own life." The other thread about Cisco not having a culture is clearly wrong.

I went to work for Juniper because I hate Cisco. My toilet paper has Cisco logo on it. It feels good to wipe my Azz with it then flush it down.

Good luck asking to be accommodated in the next round of layoffs - BUT, I've heard if you're in the right tribe and had good connections it is doable. But for me, no - I was stuck in a key position that was exhaustive, with dwindling resources and never ending problems on the horizon. In the meantime my quality of life and health were suffering. Financially, I'm well off enough where I could just leave and not need to work again, so I did. I spent many years with Cisco, but I didn't see anything good coming in their future. I remember the days of old where we had the world in our hands and hundreds of Billions $ in the Caymans. Now Cisco's declining in status within in the industry and they know it. He-l, everybody knows it ! Chambers let too many key people slip away who are now eating our lunch. Chucky was never the next messiah, a nice guy, but vanilla in the industry. Lack of innovation, DEI hiring and ELT under-performance has resulted in death by 1000 cuts where only thing they can offer investors is an *almost average quarterly dividend, which I don't think is sustainable in the least. I'm on the sidelines watching the not so pretty show that's unwinding.

During my last days at Cisco, I was also very angry and frustrated. Everything used to get under my skin. Everyone pi---d me off!! And I had problems sleeping. One time I was even talking in my sleep about how much I didn't like my job!!

You gotta pull the pin. Deflate the balloon. Get the he-l outta dodge.
I don't have answers for how you continue to pay bills, or who your next employer will be. But I do know life at C left me a hollowed, burned out trainwreck. The politics at that place poison people's souls. It's not good for ya.

Don't let the C get under your skin. Drop those packets at your life firewall and defend your personal life network.

You are one of the toxic, useless, incompetent leaders or you are on dr-gs and hallucinating. Employees are commenting because they are sick and tired of jerks like you who are low performer political a-h and deciding for their job. Commenting because jerks like you steal their accomplishment and then make a false case agains them and put them on the layoffs list. You are such an i-diot not realizing we are human beings not chuck's property, not chuck's slaves.

I'm sorry you feel miserable. It's not worth staying sad and angry at Cisco because you were LR'd or they made your life miserable. It requires time and energy to remain sad and angry. Why waste it on Cisco?

Life is better on the outside. Cisco is not the center of the universe.

Let me tell you, working at Cisco taught me one very important lesson: Never let a job determine your personal happiness or quality of life.

No matter how hard you work, or how many people admire or like you in the office, nobody will hesitate to throw you under a bus or cut you loose in a heartbeat if it means saving themselves.

As they say in the movie Trainspotting: Choose Life

"I was let go 3 years ago and I'm still sad 'n angry. Cisco will be bankrupt in about 2 years. Then I will be happy."

...so if Cisco had gone bankrupt three years ago and you’d been laid off, you’d be happy about it today...interesting. They owe you about 5 years of happiness...

Hold on a second, aren't we free to quit? If you're hoping to be laid off and it hasn't happened, what's your next move? Are you planning to start doing a poor job and just wait for the next round of layoffs? Could you explain a bit more?

Hey Jerky, I have known people who have asked to be put on the next LR list and they don't get it. In some ways it is almost a way to prevent getting LRd.

Love the put up or shut up commentators. If you can’t look objectively at what has happened you’re part of the problem. Cisco was a great place to work, until about 3 years ago. It was people like yourself who started to quiet and squash differing ideas, input and opinions when the problems really came to light. How does anyone or anything get better without critical thoughts and ideas.
