Such an honest post, I get the impression that you are a really great person.

I generally respond to the WF nonsense "the other way". No one in my group in my assigned building, so I actively avoid other people. In the 2.5 years I've been coming here (was remote before the scamdemic) I've spoken to one person, one time, and I'm sure it was apparent that I didn't want to continue the 30 second convo. My anger towards RTO has not diminished at all since the first day of it, the opposite really. It's a sick joke and it pi---s me off. I know full well why they are doing it. They want me to quit. I never will. I'll put off retirement if I have to. These failed execs in NYC have fired to many of my friends based on justifications that are obviously a complete lie. Not going to give them what they want. They are going to have to pay for me to go. They have no idea who I am, and at the end of the day my year of severance isn't much money compared to their Golden Parachute, but the thing they want most is for people to voluntarily resign and I won't give them that. I'll check all the boxes, complete all my assigned tasks by the deadline, and swipe those badges, never giving them a legit excuse to term me for cause. They'll downsize all of us eventually, but I'm getting my severance no matter what. FHY, F them right in their stupid Fing faces.

So all those dashboards tracking the badging in and out and developing individual metrics on butts in seats only ever served one side of the equation. Pair that serious oversight with this ridiculous hotel seating and the fact that we are all globally distributed (hence the pushback on RTO), what did leaders think would happen?

RIP, Denise, and sincere condolences to her family. This must be absolutely awful for her loved ones.

TLDR: Not sure what I feel anymore, certainly not as jaded as some of my fellow posters. I am sad for this person; her name was Denise. I have empathy. I wish I sat next to you Denise, I would have said, Hi and maybe we could have had some small talk about the weather. Maybe we could have been work pals, I don't know, maybe I could have heard you struggling in your time of need and called for help? I wonder if I could be you some day.

It takes me about 45 minutes to drive into my non-core location. I sit in my assigned office cube like a good team member, I don't want to get on a list, not this close to displacement--whenever that happens. Seems cruel to make us do this, but maybe I am too sensitive, su-k it up I say to myself many are worse off than you are. Makes me well up a tiny bit writing this.

My boss rarely speaks to me other than to thank me for keeping my training up to date. And my co-workers treat me differently now too, I don't fault them they know my days are numbered, I am older than most. My assignments are often menial in nature, typically reviews and approvals even though I am a principal in title, I sometimes sense resentment about that. I ask for more to do, but nothing really comes my way. I wonder if Denise felt this way, if I sat next to her, I might have asked how she was feeling. I don't know.

There are typically a couple of people I see when I go to use the restroom, I think they are from the other non-Wells businesses that share the complex, we smile as we walk by each other, odd to say, but that makes me feel good a simple smile. But I don't have anyone remotely near me. Many of the cubes are filled with boxes, missing chairs etc. I find myself often depressed, or in a general funk that this is how I am ending 20 plus years of service to the company. Sitting alone, in my 60s, waiting for displacement while maintaining a happy demeanor as I produce work that is often attributed to others and reading about teammates that passed away while at their desk is not how I thought I would close out my career. I say to myself; At least I have free coffee and can write this while sitting outside in the courtyard. Sad to the core, however, I internalize most of it and go home and hug my husband, see my kids and my Grand kids most weekends. I don't complain it is my dirty secret and they have little notion that I live this other life of shame.

The security guards should be making rounds in the building regardless of whether it is a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday and they should be investigating any strange smells to find the cause.

Hey management,

You crawl up our as--s on a daily basis about office hours and badging, but you fail to see someone badge in on a Friday and never badge out? It takes FOUR DAYS until she is discovered by other employees due to the odor?

I'm assuming, like many of us, she was forced to go into an office only to sit in a cubicle by herself and dial in to her geographically dispersed teams.

WTF is wrong with this place.

The company is starting to force people to drive into core locations regardless of whether or not it makes any sense. They want butts in seats - even if it means that the employee has to endure a grueling 3 hour commute. Even if the employee has no teammates to collaborate with face-to-face. All it's doing is ki-ling employee productivity and morale. Just about everyone I know at WF working remotely is looking elsewhere for job opportunities. So much talent is being lost.

Not sure Wells Fargo current life inurance policy but at prior firm boss said life insurance payout when you die at your physical work location was paid out to beneficiaries at 3X multiple vs 1 X if died elsewhere....this was at Bank of America and he advised if you thought you were dying it would be better to do it at work..

Serious question as did not see in HR policies. Anyone? Buehler?

She was found on 3rd floor in her cube which was away from heavy traffic area. Can’t speak to whether that area was supposed to be vacant per a previous poster, but it was a work area, not some hidden double secret utility room or dark basement like Office Space movie.

She came in at 7am on a Friday, was found following Tuesday. The building is mostly vacant per local news reporting as a lot of workers are remote. So while the time optics are bad for WF from a time math PR perspective let’s get real people. She passed away on a Friday and the building, like most in corp America, is empty all weekend. Should she have been found on Monday? Maybe. Local reporting says the odor was noted by employees earlier but chalked it up to plumbing/sewage issues. Otherwise, this could have happened to any company anywhere, regardless of its reputation, prior fraud or sins against its customers.

The story is incorrect. It wasn’t the manager who sent security to check on her. It was another employee in the building that found her and she had been there for at least four days! After they found her they didn’t even shut the building down or evacuate the building. It was business as usual.

Disturbing, but so real. If I died at my desk my Boss and co-workers would have a party probably drag my body around out in the parking lot. The loathing is real and felt.

Seriously no one deserves the kind of disrespect we give each other. A collective shame we all carry is how we treat our fellow team member, and save us all the snarky comments about we get what we deserve. We all deserve dignity no matter what.

What, exactly, should someone have done? Other than clear the room and keep others out until Security arrived there isn’t anything anyone SHOULD do. Bunch of fking snowflakes. No idea if it’s natural causes or blatant mu---r so let’s go ja--ing around with a potential crime scene. GTFO.
