Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO

I find it telling with all the RTO posts and the unwillingness to do your job unless RTO is discontinued, that not a single complainer is will to tie their name to their thoughts. If you feel strongly about your position and truly believe it is the only successful way forward, put your name to your thoughts and see if you win an audience with those that make policy. Be a leader and not a complainer. All I read here is the crying from those too weak to stand up. You put out a brave post but no doubt you cower behind the artificial tree on your floor when confronted about your feelings on RTO when management is standing in front of you.

Yes, all the RTO complainers are chicken sh-t cowards. Cry, cry, cry, but hide behind that curtain.

How about you post your name also and stand by your comments? Maybe others will follow.

I go in to the office 5 days. It's really only cooking in there from 10-2pm T, W, Th. The other times I'm there just for the peace and quiet. Like Friday is being the lone survivor in some twilight zone episode, I'm Burgess Meredith with the library all to myself. But there's no library. still, you get it.

OP,
You better believe they know my name and have heard my opinion on RTO.
And although you don’t know me personally, you sure as he-l know who I am when I pass you in the hall in that office. You may have seen me.

I walk 10 ft. tall with a swagger and confidence that you only dream you wish you had.
I smirk at you and your paper title, as well as your fairytale authority you think you have over me. Although you can spot me immediately, know that others less confident are laughing at you on the inside just as loud.

So RTO all by yourself in your office-world fantasyland. I’m the a follower and I will never follow losers.

“Keyboard commandos. They are either in the office as directed, or well on their way to being canned. RTO is here to stay.”

I dunno, they’ve been trying to ki-l me for a couple years now.
Was wave 2, got an extension, didn’t go into the office til March/April got away with it.
Been coffee badging 1-2 times a week, never got talked to, got covered for.
Wave 3 rumors coming up, hearing they’re gonna try to get me virtual.

We will see, I suppose.
:)

Still been coffee badgin’ still be showing up at 1-2 leaving at 4-5 no one’s ever said anything cause I get my sh-t done.

They’ve been offshoring tech since 1990 and then bringing it back when the results weren’t as expected.

“All these stats you listed undercut your own argument, gtfo”

I’m sure Att and all the other huge corporations will reverse course now that you’ve explained why you should be allowed to stay home. Like I said the whining is unbelievable The same people that call the technicians lazy slugs cry the loudest. Also I can tell you’re not a utility worker. You’re one of those workers they’re offshoring and I do know it’s highly skilled work. Doesn’t matter. These Indians are 1/5 the price and they’re willing to work and have all the certifications. See for yourself don’t believe me. Att has 228 openings in India on LinkedIn right now. Before you go blasting away on the keyboard look at each one of those openings and see for yourself. This is the way they are going. The only thing new about it is they are increasing the pace. They would love to catch you coffee badging. Would save them having to pay severance.

Imagine being one of those MBA non-technical people who actually respect what ‘business leaders’ say.

I’ve made a lot of money trading using mathematics, algorithms, and analysis of sentiment…the last people I listen to are “business leaders” because they only ever say what’s in their best interest, not the truth.

You make money with the truth, you make other people money listening to business leaders.

Said like someone who has never enacted change in their entire lives…I’m gonna give you a big surprise….you ready?

We discovered we don’t have to live like that anymore!
We can change things, and not be forced into tiny offices in overcrowded dangerous cities everyday!
Isn’t that crazy?

You sound like someone who would be advocating for the horse and buggy while the model T came out and preach about how “It’s always been this way! Obey the powers that be! Don’t anger the great Stank, he loves the smell of horse sh-t!”

That’s you dude

“Half of companies require employees to be in the office 4 to 5 days per week 8 in 10 companies lost talent due to their RTO mandates 70% of companies will increase or maintain the number of days employees are required to be in the office in 2025 93% of business leaders believe employees should be in the office and support RTO mandates 7 in 10 companies provide incentives to encourage workers to RTO”

So few issues here with these stats that you glanced over in your critique of ATT office workers…

  1. Most of the people complaining about RTO are NOT telecom or utility workers, they’re tech workers and expected to be treated as such. They are technical folk with years of experience making excess of $200k+ a year + stock and benefits, these are high demand career professionals and usually have options at other companies with competitive benefits, pay, and offer remote.
  1. You undercut your own argument with these stats - 8/10 companies have lost talent due to RTO. Do we want to be losing people with Masters, PHD’s, and years of experience due to silly RTO mandates that do nothing to actually increase productivity or the bottom line? If so, then just say it, don’t pretend it’s for “much collaboration”
  1. Business leaders are re--rded and often so far disconnected to how the actual work is done, not technical, and don’t understand data that frankly I could give a fu-k less what they say. Often they say whatever they think is the ‘right’ thing to say. 2-3 years ago they were saying we would stay remote forever. This is a demographic of people who would say pigs fly, and wear actual clown suits daily if it raised the stock price. Who gives a fu-k.
  1. Here’s the big you ready? 7/10 offer incentives to promote RTO. If Stankey and lame T would pay me to move, and offer like a commute stipend or bonuses, etc then I’d immediately shut up. Inflation is out of control, you want me to move 2000 miles and spend 2-3 hours in traffic daily? Pay me you fu-ko.

All these stats you listed undercut your own argument, gtfo

Working for a utility company can be very demanding. The nature of our business is such that we fix it no matter when or what day. It needs to be that way. That being said I think of us as a pretty tough lot. Boy was I wrong I’ve never heard so much whining from a group in all my life. I mean it just never ends. How many months going into years are we gonna cry about RTO. It’s a pretty normal thing to report to work 5 days a week I feel like.
Also Att is no trendsetter on this rule.

Half of companies require employees to be in the office 4 to 5 days per week
8 in 10 companies lost talent due to their RTO mandates
70% of companies will increase or maintain the number of days employees are required to be in the office in 2025
93% of business leaders believe employees should be in the office and support RTO mandates
7 in 10 companies provide incentives to encourage workers to RTO

Wow, you make a pretty innocuous post challenging others to put their names out there, yet you post anonymously. What a leader you are! You're nothing more than a Stankey salad to-ser.

If you get Stankey in a meeting with me I’ll tell him exactly what I think even if it does sink my job.
I’m not gonna sink my job just so HR can fire me though.

Get me in a room with the fu-kboi then sure I hate this place anyways, it’ll be worth it.
