Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Rate?

Let's say you're getting hired by AT&T in a similar level as a senior principal engineer. What is a decent rate that is not over the top?
This position would have no benefits. No insurance, no vacation, no holiday pay. No 401k matching, no bonus.
So you'll need to price that in.

Working at T isn’t worth whatever they are offering. Your sanity and mental wellbeing is worth more.
Look elsewhere.

I wouldn’t take anything less than 175-200k. You’re leaving health benefits, 401k and any senses of upward mobility and job security. For those reasons alone you need to make more.

at least 250K, especially if they make you go into the office.

In other words a contractor, search the web for comparable rate for the position or ask a peer.

300,000 a year if I am going to rub elbows with upper management.

What are the responsibilities for this role? "senior principal engineer" is not a valid title. Principal is two steps above senior, which means a 20% premium.

Is this an onshore or offshore job? Offshore rates are generally 1/3 to 1/5 pay depending on the country.

With absolutely no benefits, I wouldn't take less than $100 an hour.

Why would you want to go to work for a company that offers no benefits? Guess if that’s your choice I would say go big. it won’t last. They will get rid of you too. I would suggest looking elsewhere
