Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Question about layoffs

If I joined Wells Fargo three months ago, how long is it before I have to really start worrying about layoffs? I'm hoping there's a grace period in which new hires are safe, but I might be wrong.

Sorry, OP, but no one is safe from layoffs.

Take this as an opportunity to build your boundaries. Ask for what you deserve. Don't let your comrades steal from you. So that you know, you can build nothing at this dystopian firm. Set a date for your departure. Take advantage of any educational opportunities.

You should worry every Tuesday. This is the chosen day for the lay offs. Bloody Tuesdays!

You're hired to be fired. Before your one year they will let you go. It's a tactic your manager will use to steal your bonus. Been there done that. I sued for discrimination and got a settlement. Not worth working for WF at all. Good news, I make even more now with a firm that holds their integrity. Don't let your bald white manager steal your bonus. I think I eventually demonstrated to leadership that manager is a liability and they were eventually canned. K a r m a. And when you end up losing six team members there's not much to manage. I survived, I hope you will too.

We recently laid off a couple Engineering Associates/Program Analysts, which means less than a year as they get new titles after their 1 year anniversary.

The firm bases layoffs often on performance reviews. You won't have one for a while. Though, your business unit and necessity of your position factor as well.

3-month new hire gets 2 months severance just like folks with 4 years. How nice.

New hire is the first to go in layoffs at Wells. Wells unique hire to fire culture. The long standing gangsters only fire hires

Nope, no grace period. A few years ago there was a group of people in mortgage who got laid off before their training class ended. If you do get laid off you will get the 60 day notice and then 2 months severance. I would not stay up worrying though, it isn’t something you can control.
