Recording - audio and/or video is of no use. Cisco lawyers have covered it well. Your position is eliminated - plain and simple. End of story. Next?

What’s recording it going to do?

Make sure you record / video any calls or webex meetings where you are getting whacked… the attorneys will want that. And you can embarrass CSCO big time.

What are reasons HR can remove you from the list? Past experience?

By when do we get to decline the out placement support?

Do we have to negotiate for the $10 k as a trade - or is the value they assign as some black box amount to the LR recipient ?

So many posts without reality of facts. No manager knows a week before who is on list. It’s the process that HR goes through to keep them informed ahead, of what’s coming.

IT probably gets the list first, so they start or already installed monitoring software. Managers get the person (s) list to layoff the night before. At that point they schedule their 1:1 meeting same evening or the early next day. Then they show up for the call, other side is the poor lame employee, shivering and scared, having heard this coming from many sources. His/her heart rate is so high, wouldn’t even notice when the script was read and completed. It’s like being stuck with a high speed train.

Take a day of mourning, gather yourself and let the moment go pass by. By 2nd/3rd day, you are already sending resumes and talking to recruiters. New life is beginning to take shape. Such is life. You will rise again from the ashes, trust yourself. Better things ahead 🙏

The OP seems accurate to me based on past experience. Only managers involved in delivering the LR part of the training. Managers. Managers that are impacted by the LR notified earlier than junior team members. Yes, I’ve seen names removed from the LR list up to 48hrs before notification based on late reviews by HR of an updated business case not passing final review or after the HR adverse impact analysis. Can run up to the last minute.

This is false information. Managers are not cherry picked for training. Managers attended more than one prep session. Managers aren’t given a week’s notice with names.

Remember it’s your position that the manager had to write up a detailed business justification why it needs to be eliminated, it can’t be about you or your performance. You will see or already have seen your manager contort themselves to follow through to justify their business case. Giving work to others, not inviting you to key meetings, not involved in key projects, etc. Many times it’s a toss up of who’s position to eliminate/combine with an other for org efficiency. Many times the manager will pick to eliminate the position of a higher performer because they are threat to them.

If you want to make it hard on the them, keep inserting yourself best you can in projects, meetings, outside group cross-functional projects. Over communicate to your manager (and managers manager) what you’re doing, feedback and the results. It will put their business case justification at risk, make them uncomfortable, and a good positive for you. Of course this is best done earlier, 1-2 months before LR announcement is when business justification is due. At the same time, look for external jobs and be ready.

Just observe the behavior of your manager end of next week it will turn 180 degree they will start complaining about you and will turn nasty till you are let go or they will simply avoid you at which point stop attending any meetings and get ready for the inevitable. Thanks OP for the dates

I think there is a leaders sharepoint. It looks legit...
Why would they wait a week after the manager knows?

Hope they choose me so I can retire early with some $$$ and get out this rat race. Only reason I haven’t retired so far is to hang on for some big free $$$ whilst quiet quitting.

Remember to decline the out placement support - ask for $10 k as a trade.
My out placement lady worked at McDonalds for 16 yrs prior to her last yr at the firm.

yes I had a quick luck and it is difficult to guess as their calendar is quite busy, these guys do pretend they work, only we could see some results, otherwise we won't be were we are today.

The meeting invites haven’t been sent yet so anything you already think you found aligned wouldn’t be that…

Well if this is a lie we can all verify!
North America would have all the managers trained at the same time, maybe split east coast vs East coast. Canada could be included too. Not sure about Mexico, maybe that training is in Spanish and it will not be the same as for US and Canada

UK and Europe could be in the same basket. So go check their calendars.
If you know the names of multiple managers in your area create a meeting with them as attendees (but do not send the invite :-))) ) and check if there is any synchronicity

I could find meetings aligned on 09/04 11AM east coast ( which would probably align with 8AM on the West coast)

In case, your leader is in VTO or whatever reason not working on 9/16, then LR'ed person in that leader's team will be waived this time.

What a ridiculous waste of time! HR gives the same training four times a year, probably to the same managers. And managers have nothing better to do than earn their salary by going through the same old same old. Ninety five percent don’t even pay any attention as it’s the same two minutes script that a manager reads, and shut the Webex without answering any questions. I can post the script if someone is curious. Nothing can be done once you get invited to 1:1. This is a Happy Time for HR - they finally are relieved to make their jobs relevant and know they are contributing to company affairs, aka LRs.
