Honestly, I'm not expecting a job where I don't have a single worry in the world, but what we have at T is the other extreme. I'm getting sick from all the stress that comes with working here. It's always one thing or another, but most often the ever-present layoffs. Stanky has ruined this place.

I was called into director's office. I thought I would be put on a PIP for constant complaining or surplussed. His advise was my stress was my fault for not maintaining a high level of apathy. Layoffs are difficult for directors who maybe surplussed and yet know those selected may face difficult times. The criteria for not surplussed do not include hard work, stays late, comes in early, skips breaks/lunch, or critical project. The criteria shared was how cheaply (saved T $$) with a lower paid worker. A promoted less qualified employee sends a positive message. I was advised to go for a 2 hour lunch and leave early.
Stressed that I will be discovered that they will lay me off because I don't really have many skills as technology changes and I am lazy and don't do much work.

100% by design!

We tried, unfortunately the fund managers, BOD and execs hold all the cards, they out-vote us in the yearly stockholders meetings. If we could out-vote them, Randall, BOD and then Stankey would have been fired a long time ago. It would be based on stock market drop, cutting the dividends and leveraging the company into historical debt without a ROI.
Just stop giving a fu-k. Works for me :).

It's easy to do when you don't have anything at risk if you lose your job. But there's a lot of people that have a lot to lose if they're laid off or termed for some d-mb sh-t. I haven't felt secure since like 2021 when the pressure went up 10x

Got the surplus in July and a new job that week. My stress has plummeted. Att is a slow toxicity, like the lead wires it left in the ground

Ok Stankey. Don’t you have better things to do than to post on this board? Like talk to your personal chef about what you want him to cook on the grill for you today?
To the "Y’all are just a bunch": I did not change the work environment. If I had only a year or two, good advice. But after fifteen years, higher seniority, longer and better vacation; why should I start over. We make our monthly goals. Try working a call center, company store, or home repair/install. If you don't produce, you don't make money. Miss goals for a few months and you are gone. I don't know of a single manager that put out a report missing something or a bit late that received a reprimand.
If you still have a job consider yourself fortunate but change your perspective.
When you wake up in the morning just go do your job as if you are going on a simple errand to the bank to withdrawal some cash. That’s all AT&T should be to you, a piggy bank. (you work for a bunch of pig leaders anyway so treat it that way).
You should have no stress or anxiety. There is nothing you can do to keep yourself employed and there is nothing you can do except your day to day job. So relax and be happy. Ka Ching.
Your welcome, happy labor day!

It’s actually not much different at other telcoms..
Yeah, I agree. The people I work with are great and it's stressful and sad being so many of them go. And then their work gets piled onto the people that stay.
