Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What happens if there is no tentative agreement?

The longer this goes, the more the company is going to find ways to take care of the work. What happens though if this goes months and the company finds people to replace our roles? The union is offering to work temporary jobs in my area but I can’t afford to live off that work.

Nothing can stop the AT&T train, with Stankey as conductor. We are omnipotent.

After this debacle, I bet in May, June and July of 2029 everyone will be retiring or getting new jobs before August. There won’t be anyone left to go on strike but the union reps. That is if AT&T still exists. Know the younger set will do that for sure. We got burned this time but, never again.

Even from this insignificant, back water corner of the web, I have influenced over 7,367 members to cross the line.
Many of whom aren't even United States citizens.

if you think about it, across all of Southeast, how strong is that really?

Stankey appreciates everyone sacrificing their laborious day free time to instigating further hate and division. And if you are on the company dime, better still . You are making him so proud.

Yep, I see, contract 4 years, that answer is AI, it can't make up it's "mind" if contract is 3 or 4 years. It seems to be on track in some areas, off in others, as expected.

It's because CWA doesn't/didn't always date their news updates. Poor record keeping on their part.

After reading the latest CWA update, us union members should be worried. It is clear that the novices at the table are on the side of the CWA. The invisible man comment sounds like something my grandkids would say. Having our livelihood in the hands of these folks is troubling.

Being a scab or being homeless? If your even remotely claiming you would choose being out on the streets verse being called a name, your not living in the real world. Ain’t no name calling going to stop me from feeding my family. And I got 30 years.

The west D9 has entirely different Healthcare...
Agree, just posting the information.
Results I found for D3. Things we already know, but see people questioning efforts or truth from CWA. How much do we trust internet? I don't know, but here it is anyway.

Regarding the ongoing contract negotiations in CWA District 3 (Southeast), the situation remains tense. As of late August 2024, around 17,000 AT&T Southeast workers are on strike due to the company's refusal to negotiate in good faith. This strike has been a significant escalation following months of stalled negotiations that began in June.

The main points of contention include AT&T's rejection of several proposals from the CWA, particularly those related to moving Wire Technicians into the core contract and improving working conditions. Despite repeated efforts by the CWA to address these issues, the company has been resistant, rejecting multiple proposals without offering substantial counterproposals. The bargaining team has been actively working on new strategies and preparing additional proposals to push the negotiations forward, but progress has been slow

Your comment is a great example of how management considers the value of their subordinates. You "thems" complete DEI training, get protection so you can become untouchable and act like imbeciles. Happens more and more.

Others say we are waiting on D9. We'll this is what I found so far for D9.
The latest update for CWA District 9's contract with AT&T in California indicates that members have overwhelmingly ratified the new three-year agreement by a margin of 3 to 1. This contract, which covers around 22,000 workers in California, Nevada, and Hawaii, includes a total pay increase of about 9% over the contract term. It also includes pension band increases of 2% each year, with cost-of-living adjustments.

The contract maintains health care coverage without significant cost increases for most workers, and it includes new provisions for employment security and worker transfer rights. Voting for the tentative agreement is still ongoing and will conclude on September 4th, 2024. Ballots were mailed to members starting on August 20th, and all ballots need to be returned by September 4th for counting on September 6th. The ratification results should be available shortly after that

Maybe T delay until they get management squared away. I understand that the plan was to reduce management to 4 levels. Once that is in place, and people are in their new roles, less management covering more area. Then they will start true negotiations for employees.

I don't have true trust for either side. A video stream of meetings would be nice. This good cop bad cop thing is getting old. What if Union heads is getting kick back because the longer we are out, the more money T saves. Maybe the plan is to starve us out won't take long in this economy. Not that they can shut it down but could do the work with replacements and scabs. Strike didn't work well for Peterbilt in Madison. Union strength is not what it once was, I was always told you can't fight City Hall I feel like that's what we're doing, the company main focus is its own Survival.

Happy Labor Day! 🥱 up early, got the smoker fired up and put on some brisket and boston butt. Some for today and the rest for this week’s picket line lunch. Enjoying all the down time! No member has crossed in my local, only a couple of non union Scabs.

IMO, the company will start bargaining in good faith after the D9 votes are counted on Sept. 6. because they really can’t afford for the two largest districts to be out at the same time. This strike is having a major impact by itself so, stay strong and in unity!!

Curious, when was the last real strike, 1983? Is there anyone even still around from that one even here? Personally, I don’t care what anyone says. I am going to do what I got to do. But to threaten people with bullying them is about as bad as the company not wanting to negotiate.

Bargaining report # 58 partial excerpts;

“Many of you have seen a letter that the company sent out on Friday with its version of what has transpired in bargaining. To nobody's surprise, they deny that they are bargaining in bad faith. What is surprising is the deliberate misinformation they put in their letter. They talk about how much they value their employees, while at the bargaining table they call Wire Technicians "'second class employees." They claim that they have sent senior leadership to the bargaining table. They must have The Invisible Man working for AT&T, because no one on the CWA bargaining team has seen this "senior leadership" in the room with us.“

“The company's bad faith tactics have made the bargaining process extremely difficult. But now that we have closed the book on mediation, we believe that the company no longer has any excuses. They must deal with us, your bargaining team, across the table. Thanks to our members who are holding the line against the company's bad faith bargaining tactics, we know we have their attention. As soon as they start fulfilling their obligation to bargain in good faith, we believe we can get the deal done.“

“ Throughout the day, we have been meeting with the Company going over the proposals at hand and reiterating the need to get a contract. While there may not be anything major to report on from today's events, please know that with the ceasing of the mediator's presence, our Union leadership is in the process of taking the appropriate next steps that will hopefully encourage the Company to do what is right in order to get the proper decision makers to the table. ”

You need to do whatever for yourself and your family. Cross if that’s what you have to do. I don’t give a sh-t, I’m going to come back next Tuesday and cross. It doesn’t matter what clowns will talk sh-t about me. I’m here for a job and the union hasn’t ever done sh-t for me and I’m done with missing out on a paycheck. They are too fu--ing stupid, the money that they want to save me on healthcare I lost not working the last two weeks. They ain’t saying sh-t either. They’re just as bad as the company. We are just caught in the middle.
