Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Anyone else also hearing rumors about layoffs?

Like in the case of the previous poster, they are going around my org as well. Is there any substance to all rumors? Nobody can say anything for sure, but the chatter definitely increased. And here I was hoping for some job security for next month or two. I guess there is no such thing anymore.

Fidelity has always been notorious for layoffs. They hire like crazy then layoffs happen when they decide they need to slash the budget. Contractors get hit first during this time, but not always. They will use RTO sins as an excuse to let certain people go. I'll be surprised if there is a VBO to accomplish the cost cutting others have spoken about. It's not a cheap for the company if it's anything like the previous 2. Don't put your head in the sand, but don't panic either. Keep resumes up to date along with your network.

I’ll give y’all a bit of a heads up, if you hear of McKinsey (or similar ilk) assisting the senior leadership team it’s time to work on your exit plan, they will decimate the company. (Covid hire forced out by RTO, previous company was gutted by the lovely McKinsey and I left them for Fidelity)

CAPE/FEA/SWE is merging and has too much fat to not trim. Expect announcements within EI in October.

Boston devops is, as always, protected by the hand of God and will survive these cuts

The biggest fear they have is that we will form a union and prevent the silent layoffs from happening. It’s hard to be a spoiled owner when your employees have an equal voice. Unless we start staging private protests things won’t change. RTO is the breaking point, we must unite!

Layoffs happen all the time, but no one really talks about them unless you see someone being walked out.

Just be better at your job than your peers. If you are one of the best; you’ll likely find another role at the firm! It happened to me and I was able to find another role before my official layoff date.

Grim Reaper Roger comes back for 1 thing, and 1 thing only.

Will Abby be away from the office like coward Ned was when Roger pulled the trigger before?

No point in rumoring save the stress. If it's gonna happen it's gonna happen. Always assume your on the chopping block and have a back up plan.
