Currently contractors are splicing and maintaining the network. Seems like the strike is only affecting the workers at this point. I need some clear insight, how long we gonna do this?

"bonehead decision"
We will be correcting one such decision in the ongoing bargaining process
“…We simply can’t compete with the likes of Comcast, Spectrum, Charter, etc, if we’re paying techs $45/hour or more for basic I&R and HSIA installation & maintenance..”
Do these other companies also have 57 layers of management like T & have they p!$$ed away billions on bonehead decisions and failed mergers like T?
Just returned from 6 days in Cozumel. Highly recommended for those finding a lot of free time on their hands. Not too expensive this late in the summer. Need to make up some Picket time now that my "Covid quarantine" is over.
So you lied to your Union brothers so that you could go to Cozumel? UNITY! Whoohoo!
“…the pot of money secured for bargaining isn’t going to change and Wire Techs are NOT going to be pulled into a group 1 title in the core agreement. The tiered wage structure (2nd class is a not so glamorous description BTW…) is in place to make T market competitive in the broadband sector. We simply can’t compete with the likes of Comcast, Spectrum, Charter, etc, if we’re paying techs $45/hour or more for basic I&R and HSIA installation & maintenance. I know that last statement resonates poorly with many techs, but in terms of technical complexity and skills needed, it falls at the bottom of the totem pole in work functions performed by union members in the Southeast and all other regions. Cable Repair, Construction Splicing, Specials, ABFS, 911, DEG, CO, CO-Power…These are all group 1 craft functions that demand elevated skills and compensation by comparison.”
So T has $$$ to pay Digital Techs to do Uverse I&R but they don’t have $$$ to pay Wire Techs to do the same?
How is it squeezing the company when they claim millions & billions in profits and relay as such to the executives and shareholders? The correct response would be a similar increase in pay & benefits, not a pentance wage increase and givebacks in healthcare
It will continue to diminish every day they remain out on strike. Squeezing the company during the height of inflation and while it is buried in billions of dollars in debt isn’t smart at all. I sympathize with the regional health care issues, but be realistic, the pot of money secured for bargaining isn’t going to change and Wire Techs are NOT going to be pulled into a group 1 title in the core agreement. If the company offer is at all comparable to what has been tentatively agreed to in the West region, CWA D3 should call it a win and move on. The previous CEO wasn’t interested in fighting the union, but Stankey is downright ruthless by comparison. He’s basically forced thousands of managers off the payroll at all levels around the country under the guise of RTO and collaboration. We’re all but pawns to him. Do you think he really cares how long union members stay out on strike or gives two shites about customer service??? My guess is it won’t bother him one bit to deploy contractors (for both customer facing and non customer facing roles) in the long term to sweat the union out.
This whole thing is a real mess!
Bring in someone like Elon Musk and fire the strikers.
CWA NEW JERSEY has had stacks of grieviencies [sic] for years. Local 1053 in particular. Many of these grieviencies [sic] ended up in the CWA Headquarters in Washington DC.
What does that have to do with District 3?

"I am embarrassed for the CWA. No one, even management employees, want to continue to watch this play out. It's like KNOWING there is a horrible ending coming, and the CWA is in denial."
OP appeared to be showing empathy for their situation and the 'tards downvote the post.
At&t is pure virtue in putting out this employee insurrection. Only by elimination of the inferior blue collar working man shall we commit to the further lining of our corporate master's pocket.
I am embarrassed for the CWA. No one, even management employees, want to continue to watch this play out. It's like KNOWING there is a horrible ending coming, and the CWA is in denial.
Only PURE incompetence and hate can correct this imbalance. Calling forth my demonic corporate warriors to prevail over the union insurrection .
So it is written, so it shall be done.
Stankey
A.D. 2024
Management and it's obedient minions are the superior force!!! Look at our inane abilities to control inferior forces via our crusty keyboards!
We shall prevail!
"A single/unified contract or single/unified contract date is the only way true leverage will remain. Luckily for T, the union apparently has no interest in unifying their union."
Oh, but apparently, there is a nationwide strike scheduled for October 19th.
“It is greatly diminished from previous years, especially since there really is no National Union anymore. Each region has its own union and sometimes there are multiple unions representing the workers in each region. The unions have to be organized at a national level to have any real pull against ATT.”
“The greatest leverage is a strike. Once that card is played there isn't much more than can realistically be done especially since it is only 1 district. They never should have staggered contract expatriation dates. That was a huge strategic error by the company.”

I’m no labor contact attorney, but a single national contract may not be possible since both CWA & IBEW are both involved. A single contract date should be a requirement since the way it is now, 1 district can use another district’s soon to be expired contract date as leverage against the company to get a quick deal to which the company will then leverage against the next district(sound familiar).
Shoutout to D9 for having our back
In Unity….
Go..Go contractors, we need some more work when get return. If their quality is good as their safety then, we are in business.
It seems as if many people don’t understand that CP managers are a temporary solution. We are not replacing technicians because we don’t live where we are deployed nor do we want to. We have families and lives we want to return to.
However, I can tell you that the team I’m on is performing very well, but I’ve heard we are the exception.
Stank thinks you should be honored to work here for the least amount he thinks you should get paid and whatever benefits HE believes is equitable to line his wallet.
He won’t give in. He’d rather see everyone leave.
If he could clone himself and do the work he would. And then blame the scientists instead of himself when his clones can’t do the most basic task.
The greatest leverage is a strike. Once that card is played there isn't much more than can realistically be done especially since it is only 1 district. They never should have staggered contract expatriation dates. That was a huge strategic error by the CWA. AT&T's executive management doesn't care. Look how they already treat ALL employees. The general public doesn't care because they have their own problems and most hate AT&T to begin with. About the only ones that care outside the union are the people that are uprooted from their families and put in position to do jobs they have no desire or sufficient training to do.
No surrender! Stankey says give me $ or give you deaf.
Stankey is the axis of the moon and stars.
I understand the Stink will raise a pair of his Pajamas on the flag pole in Dallas when he surrenders!
Get your info on the line. Don't fall for managers trying to get a rise out of you.
About as much leverage as Mickey Mouse!!
Ha-Ha!
Who needs customers!
Not Stankey !!
What leverage do OOS customers have. Let me count the ways.
There isn't any union rebellion. It has been dealt with through attrition. It's just you and I and our collective wisdom that can save the Stankey monopoly. We have the will, the intellect and brave keyboards. Onward and upward, we shall not relent.
This is a bunch of CROCK! First off , half construction jobs were contractors before the strike … but , the Ethernet work is DEFINITELY delayed. These notes I see are hilarious !!! Keep FIGHTING YOUR FIGHT DISTRICT 3! District 4 stands with you!
I wonder if anything will get brought up about them forcing prem techs to break Texas state law to dig in at terminals. Seems like a risky thing for them to do. Let alone by-passing local permitting requirements

Where are managers? They were trained to replace workers. So much money wasted on training. Another proof that T managers are no use and have no skills. Well done Stankey.
Fiber splicing is not unique to AT&T. Contractors are splicing in inactive cable while managers and those that have crossed are splicing in working cable. The longer this goes the less leverage the union has. This isn’t 1989, let alone 2009, it’s 2024 and the copper network is dead. That was the leverage you once had and it’s gone.
This thread is hilarious. No, contractors aren't maintaining the network. They are completing a token job here and there. And no, leadership definitely isn't coming up with some genius plan. It's chaos in the Southeast. Even the most critical repair tickets aren't being are delayed or not done at all.
Leadership is replacing your jobs. With every second you wait, you give them more time to come up with a plan which eliminates you. Tick Tock.
Contractor splicing = Job security
