Can we talk about how tone Def mid market

id-Market Leadership A Disconnect Between Operations and Reality

There’s a serious disconnect between leadership and operations in the mid-market. It feels like CB and AR are completely tone-deaf to what’s actually happening on the ground. The constant refrain of “sell more, call more” doesn’t reflect the reality that many of our installs aren’t even being completed due to ongoing strikes. Yet, despite this, leadership has the audacity to send out emails about incentives based on fiber installs—an impossible target right now. Who is running this organization?

On top of that, the pay structure just doesn’t add up. I’m sure someone will mention the need to “clear fraud,” but for those of us who’ve only been here a short time, like me—just one year—we haven’t even had the chance to do anything wrong. Meanwhile, operations still manage to pocket their annual bonuses, despite being the architects of a failing strategy. My manager recently got an email from CB saying, “JVB is the head.” Well, good for them. They’ve been treating us like pawns for as long as I’ve been here.

It’s not like we don’t have leadership trying to rally us. Our AVP has made efforts, but let’s be honest, it feels like they’re just figureheads in the larger machine. Nothing’s really changing. And the operations team? They’re not actually moving things forward. Most of them are just commuting, staying in their bubbles while we’re left to deal with the fallout.

The reality is, there’s a huge gap between the leadership’s perspective and what’s actually happening on the frontlines. The question is, how long can this continue before the disconnect starts to seriously damage morale—and the business?

He-l, CB is like a prehistoric bug that survives anything....i remember seeing him around Bay Area HQ when we were AT&T Wireless early 2000s before Cingular merger. That guy knows how to back slap and glad hand like nobody's business!

For a year person, buddy - better get used to it. Whatever you do, keep your resume UPDATED ALWAYS! Wherever you're at - your manager will be nice, but always watch your back. Stay strong buddy, I'm in MM as well but it doesn't get any better, its going to get worse than better

The Mid Market strategy is very few employees. Plain and simple. Solutions Providers take over almost all of the account management, lifecycle, and sales for L2 and L3 type WAN/IP/VoIP/Mobility - all the bread and butter stuff sold.

Anything that seems to be one step forward on getting better, will still be offset with 2 to 3 steps towards the goal within 2 years of an SP handles mid market segment.

There will be plenty of customer losses, but likely not enough to upset the financial gains involved with essentially contracting the entire segment out to SP’s.

If you plan to work for the company more than another year or two, you better find a way into the alliance channel which will be one of the few areas needing to add more people as the strategy is executed.

Hugs newbie. I want to say, it’s COMPANY wide and the upper management are like gangrene to the company and the people who actually do the work !! Since you haven’t been here long , you can leave and not be entangled like someone like myself, who has to try and stick it out because we are in single digits to retirement l.
