Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Not in the room when it happens

So, you, CWA, can't disclose the inner workings of negotiations? Are we children in a divorce? You don't think we deserve details? What's wrong with telling us what they offer and what you counter offer or vice versa? I feel like I'm buying a car, CWA is the salesman telling us he's going to the manager to get us the best deal he can because he's working for us!!

To the Jersey retiree. I handled all your grievances. I put most in recess and filed appeals on the others. I basically bought time so you COULD retire. The reason why so many grievances were filed from those 2 locations is because your management team were all on dr-gs. Your welcome and enjoy that retirement.

I relish the plaintiff wailing of Att employees. It always makes me feel better about my own job.

Hopefully not a job in which spelling counts. Don't use big words if you don't know how to spell them. plaintive

I am a retired AT&T employee. Retired since 2019. Worked in NJ for most of my career. CWA! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY GRIEVIENCIES THAT I SUBMITTED THROUGH MY LOCAL 1058? Most likely my grievances ended up at the CWA headquarters there in Washington DC. Why were there so many grieviencies filed from the AT&T offices in Piscataway and Bridgewater NJ.

Nothing about the negotiations.

Here's the deal--the company doesn't have to give updates. They don't "owe" them to lower managers, because other employees aren't a party to the contract. CWA however, is bargaining on behalf of its members, therefore they owe updates to them; the members are a party to the contract.

I'm sure the company is disseminating info on CP to the appropriate parties; they don't have to broadcast it to anyone not involved.

The company doesn’t want to put tamp-ns in the mens room like Walz demands, and no free s-x changes and abortions as Kamala wants. Maybe CWA could send a man to bargain instead of a bunch of DEI’s.

Disclosure - which negotiating team are you describing? CWA or AT&T? Sounds like it could be either one. However, since AT&T seems to be proud that they are sending "a senior, high-level negotiating team", I would assume its the AT&T team.

The company gives updates, but only to say how bad the CWA is. Nothing about the negotiations. However, the company out and out lied (and aren't getting called on it) that that pay and benefits are adjusted for cost of living and anticipated inflation.

FLAT OUT LIE.

So, CWA, give them he-l!

OK you want full disclosure. The company lead whom I call Left Field is hard to focus on because one eye shoots off to the left. Dude makes it hard to take anything seriously. Number 2 is a chick that has been around if you know what I mean. Better days are in the rear view mirror as they say. Everything has dropped big time. Number 3 we call Mumbles. He comes in every day and rests his head on his right hand as if he has trouble focusing or trying to stay awake. 4&5 are always in and out giggling. They did catch the wrath of Left Field until #2 cautioned him about stepping over that diversity line. 6 sits there like he is truly interested but he always texting some chick he says is a hotty in Russia or somewhere over there. Seems like a nice guy though. What will tomorrow bring?

And they're still "crunching numbers" based on what the company gave them yesterday? WTH. Sounds like they didn't even meet with the company today.

Yes you are children of divorce and do you know why? Your mother was caught cheating with the pool boy but you thought it was your Dad's friend. Children are always the last to know. Still have issues with it? Focus on work. You can make a difference. LOL

Maybe the CWA team could use the help of a manager with spreadsheet skills to help them analyze offers more quickly?

Oh that’s right, managers only clog toilets…

How many times so we have to inform company trolls the same message, the have tried the same fear mongering for a couple of weeks now. Not going to work, go work your 12/6 and when the company gets serious we will return. Any union member the crosses beware, you are working for free because the union can and will sue you. Talk to you local steward/officers before making any kind of life/career decisions.

We have gotten 5 weeks pay in August, started getting strike pay this week and those few in need can work gig/temp jobs until it’s time to go back. Won’t be too long trolls and no, the company can’t lock out or permanently replace during a ULP action, 1935 NLRA aka.. Wagner Act. The NRLB still needs to investigate and will make a ruling thereafter but the contract should be settled by then but the union can sue for back wages after the win. In Unity!

If you are living paycheck to paycheck you are in the wrong job/profession.

When I started out many years ago, I was in craft and the only think I ever remember the CWA telling us was to start saving for the next possible strike right after a contract was ratified. That gives you like 3 or 4 years to save for your own strike fund.

Needless to say, I did not retire from a craft position and I wasn't living paycheck to paycheck. CWA is useless.

We are ready, skilled and able to make this enterprise profitable again. Unfortunately for management and craft, y'all got to go.
It's a culture of losing and loss. Can't get to the Superbowl with bench warmers.
Replacing the union lay abouts is a good first step, but the self absorbed and ineffective engineering and support teams need to fish or cut bait.
It won't be pretty, but it can be a good investment again.

“ Week 3: evictions inevitable, repossessions on the table. Landlord doesn’t care if your union is on strike”
Unfortunately we live in a paycheck to paycheck world. This could get interesting if this continues into next week. Lot of folks will have a hard time if they end up losing a month’s salary.

Shhh….or they will schedule another one of those useless town halls. Who wants to sit through that pep rally again? Yeah, I want go to bankrupt to support your agenda. The election will come and go and the union will be still be trying to sell the same snake oil. .

Can't Win Arbitration.
You may as well get your non union neighbor, who can spell, to fill out your McDonald's online applications.
Cuz, you ain't coming back. The next generation is waiting in the wings. They work for pennies on the dollar, y'all.
Sub-subcontractors and kick backs are the new Sheriff in town. Love it or leave it, your precious T is going global, baby.
