Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Everyone has successful negotiations but Att.

Workers at Blue Bird in Ga successfully negotiated a contract, Volkswagen in Tenn voted in UAW, Norfolk Southern reached a deal with a whopping 13 unions, Southwest ratified a contract with 33% over 4 years, a 5 year contract was reached with Anheuser-Bush boosting pay, benefits and job security. The film industry in Ga reached deals that avoided strikes. Att seems to be the runt of the litter causing 2 strikes within 1 month. One with CWA and the other with Disney. What a Team!

Look, no one cares who does the work to keep the network running. CWA, Managers, H-1b, whatever. Just keep the bits and dividends flowing. That's all we care about.

You are right. Your original "bargaining lead" lost his job. It is hard to negotiate with someone as such. And to the poster wanting to know about the reference to Disney. Att has a responsibility to provide programming to those who pay for said service or to refund their money. A $20 bill credit in 90 days is far from providing a service to the consumer. I personally pay a lot for Uverse TV because your company refuses to reroute my service to the rear of my lot where fiber is offered but more important to me is having my programming denied after being paid for. Your negotiator stated that they would stand strong against Disney which owns ESPN which hosts college football. Quite a few consumers like ESPN and quite a few enjoy Disney. Figured you might have known that but never assume.

Because it’s hard to reach an agreement with a group of people whose jobs are being eliminated in the near future. You can only hide the intention so much using big boy words in a contract.
Most of the negotiation behind the scenes involves sweetening the pot for the Communications Bosses of America. The CWA stuff is easy.

Thousands of hotel workers strike across US cities over failed contract talks.
American Airlines, union fail to reach deal on new contract.
Mercedes workers in Alabama reject union, dealing setback to UAW.
Arbitration hearing between Canadian railroads and union ends with no decision on back-to-work order.
Most if not all contract negotiations last beyond the contract expiration. All those mentioned by the poster went south before reaching an agreement.

Seem to be missing all the unions that have not reached agreements or have gone or still on strike today. Complete stories tell a better picture.

I don't get the Disney reference. Since when is T responsible for Disney?
