Verizon to Acquire Frontier Communication

Reported in USA Today

Verizon announced Thursday it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Frontier Communications in an all-cash transaction valued at $20 billion. According to Verizon, the acquisition will 'significantly expand' the company’s fiber footprint across the country. The combination will integrate Frontier’s fiber network into Verizon’s portfolio of fiber and wireless assets, including its Fios offering, according to a news release. Frontier has 2.2 million subscribers across 25 states while Verizon has about 7.4 million Fios connections in nine states and Washington, D.C., according to Verizon. Frontier has committed to build an additional 2.8 million fiber locations by the end of 2026, increasing its current total of 7.2 million fiber locations. The two companies have about 10 million combined fiber customers across 31 states and Washington, D.C. Verizon will acquire Frontier for $38.50 per share in cash, with the transaction valued at approximately $20 billion of enterprise value.

I have lived in GTE-SW (now branded as verizon but still actually GTE-SW) area for 20+ years and this news is funny.

10 to 15 years ago frontier was part of verizon, then they said it had become it's own company, now they say verizon owns it again.

All the same players all the time, just different stage names...........

Their headcount will go up after the acquisition. Frontier seems to use a lot of contractors in this part of the world for Installation. Wonder if that will change with Verizon.

While the Stink is addicted to buying high, and selling low - Stink does not have $20B that he could beg, borrow or steal to buy anything!

Oh, how bad the Stink must feel. He must feel pretty low not being involved. Good! I don't feel bad for the Stink who is a POS!

Verizon's debts as of June 2024, was $172.98 billion.  This includes all current and non-current debts.

While AT&T's debt ending June 2024, was $125.355 billion.

One big difference between the two companies is employee count -- VZ has 93,000 while AT&T comes in at 149,900.

With district 9 TA and rumored 18% pay imcrease for district 3, costs will rise again for AT&T.

Exactly where does AT&T want head count to go?

Down, down, down.
