Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Stankey chooses to "reopen discussions on the final offer".

Wow, maybe the strike is having an affect on Corp.

How magnanimous of Stankey, must be hard to admit when you are wrong. He tried the old elite trick of 3 million dollar raise for me and higher healthcare premiums, deductibles and out of pocket expenses for you.

This might offer a small insight. Jump down to the pay comparisons. Also, remember the doc is CWA, so it's not necessarily neutral.

I too hope, as a management employee, they (the union) start to see where we’ve been coming from and individual contributors and the union employees can stop fighting amongst themselves…we have nothing to do with your plight union employees, in fact most of us support you.

And as you stated, I work sometimes 60+ hours a week…testing, writing software, meetings, architecture, fixing bugs, writing up requirements, writing issues to assign to people, etc etc etc…I’m not lazy but I also understand where and how I perform at my peak and commuting pointlessly to an office just to do the same thing I can do at home is inefficient and stupid, as is moving 1000+ miles to do the same elsewhere.
Sometimes we have to test late at night to reduce customer impact, so I’ll be on all day 9-5 then on from 11pm-3am then get up and drive to the office to sit talking to no one and having teams meetings. Why?
My team is distributed throughout the entire country. It’s insane.

Yes, I get paid well, I never complained about any of this arrangement until RTO started and my teams started to fall apart, they fired experts we needed, projects started to fail, and funding started getting cut.

My workload has only increased, my pay hasn’t, and now the company wants more from me on top of all of that - to move 1000+ miles with no additional pay or assistance, why? “To make Stankey happy”
It’s pointless, and shows how out of touch the executives are here.

So maybe now the CWA can understand what we were talking about that we were called whiners for.

This is the Internet so obviously a few trolls got to you.

Most of us CWAers don't like what's happening to management either because we know great coworkers who've made the jump into management and it's a sign the execs are going to sc--w with us. And believe it or not... some of us want to go into management when the time is right for us.

We're in this together.

That email shows how out of touch he is with all of his employees. Managers have been complaining for a couple of years about the horrible insurance, cuts to benefits like PTO, no cost of living increase, and RTO, which also costs more money and is a total mindf***. Not because we are lazy office slobs who like to hang out at Costco, but we cause we support a national or global base and need flexibility. Our teams and work don’t fit into a drop in space for 8 hours a day when we support multi-times zones each, so we work in both places now.
Jobs being cut from hard workers just because they can’t move to Dallas. And maybe it is just one person who has to move on a team of 50 or 60 people spread around the country. Nothing makes sense anymore.

So maybe now the CWA can understand what we were talking about that we were called whiners for. Do what you feel is right, but from how we have been treated, I am not sure you will get what you are asking for, but I sincerely hope you do.

“And benefit plans such as 401k is unheard of in today’s marketplace.”

Home Depot and Lowe’s offer a 401k dude.
Chick-fil-a offers a 401k with 5% match.

Are you high?

Coming from a former ATT employee… what’s the average salary of these striking workers? What benefits do they currently have? What is the average education level? And what was offered/declined at bargaining ? I’ll tell you the wages paid with that company are a lot higher than most college graduates earn. And benefit plans such as 401k is unheard of in today’s marketplace.
I recall CA workers making a base of $72K-$95k plus full benefits.
All that to say…what’s all the fuss about ?

He better bargain in good faith or we are will keep striking until he gets serious. Congressional investigations and answering to congress might move this along. D3, D9, Hurricane with storm damage and Stankey using unqualified managers to do the work of skilled workers, will get high visibility and a quick investigation. I will be contacting all my representatives soon if the don’t get this wrapped up and offer a fair contract.

Ok, y'all. I let everyone pay me a flat rate of $2000 a month to work here. It's only because I believe in all of you. If you've been here more than 5 years, there's a 10% discount for loyalty and the fact you don't have the initiative and skills to work someplace nice.

Your man with the plan,
STANKEY

I'd love for Senator Hawley to grill Stankey and ask about the outages, pay increase, and off-shoring of work and access to critical infrastructure data.

Nothing he has done the past 2-3 years has been in the best interest of the customer.
The quality of our services has consistently gone down while he’s cut staff endlessly and enforced RTO.

The email is bs and hypocritical - I read that and immediately decided the rest is probably bs and a lie as well.

I will hold what T stock I’m getting awarded and sell it once this rip is over though before the inevitable plunge back down.
I suspect it could MAYBE hit $25.
I’d suggest bagholders do the same and buy something worth holding or if you really want dividends just buy a dividend focused ETF with the money.

Good luck.

“Stock crossed over $21 today! All this salary cash you are freeing up is great for business. Please keep posting those lunch menus for those of us working.”

Macro.
Guess you didn’t get the news about interest rate cuts?

T is a company whose main product is a “decent” dividend and boomers have the perception that the company is “stable” so they buy up shares when there’s a retreat to safety.
They’re prepping for interest rate cuts and upcoming market volatility. Stankey could have done literally nothing and the stock would have gone up in this environment.
