Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Why is the Company saying the contract is for 15k employees when the CWA site keeps saying 17k?

So Why is the Company saying the contract is for 15k employees when the CWA site keeps saying 17k? Someone’s not right on this? I would think the company knows how many employees they have, but why wouldn’t the union?

“Don't Union Represented employees have to pay dues no matter if they join the union or not? “

In a Right to Work State like all the ones in D3, if you’re not in the union, you don’t pay dues. No signed card, no dues, means you can go to work without being sued by the union. They are powerless in the South.

Are you the same guy trying to tell the people not to post about DTV on this site? if not you have a twin. You sure are a bossy son. It doesn't work outside the confines of your cubicle, but I understand. My PHD taught me about personalities like yours. The 2nd class label was passed down from someone that spent 3 years as a freshman in college. That was you wasn't it shorty? Ciao

Short answer is no.

If you don’t like being considered 2nd class, go back to college and get a degree. Seriously, people with college degrees have always looked their noses down at people that don’t have them. Stop with this 2nd class junk already and do something to better yourself if you’re not happy. T will even pay for your degree. Don’t think the union does.

Don't Union Represented employees have to pay dues no matter if they join the union or not? It seems like it would be a sweet deal to be a bargained for employee and not have to pay anything back for that benefit.

The numbers are different because the union is counting the jobs that are union represented but, the person in that job is not in the union. That’s why the numbers don’t match. People take the jobs because they need a job but either don’t want to be a part of the union or cannot afford the dues. They are the ones who were told to leave their jobs and are not getting the small strike benefits. However; they can cross the line and continue working. They may get abused by the union but, they still have a job and are getting paid if they choose to go to work.

Always gotta run your mouths. Can't answer a simple question?

Is there a simple answer? Ok, here is my theory. The company says 15K because they're expecting to lay off 2K out of 17K to offset everything the union demands.

I've noticed that, too. But the very first press release from CWA stated 15,000.

Does it really matter at this point? They are on strike and this is what you are concerned with? The separate contracts are for Core/UFO, Utilities and Billing. The company probably miscounted and left one of the groups out.

Your assumption that the company knows anything is telling. They are sure about one thing, all are 2nd class employees to them.
