Tracy Kerrins - AI Guru?

I am not familiar with this woman, but I saw that she is leading Consumer Tech and Gen AI.

As an aspiring data scientist, I get asked a lot of algo questions, do special projects and present results during interviews. Even my code being reviewed live on interviews.

She must be good at what she is leading?

She is literally one of the worst leaders & I know it because I have first hand experience with AI / CT under her. There’s a reason why she was demoted as the Head of Technology. Everyone seems to run around like headless chickens under her regime; stress level at every meeting is apparent. We miss Steve Hagerman & his leadership.

@1ouc+1uqpezwb stated good points. But the issue is that TK is a sh1t leader who hires sh1t leaders. Know what happened to the strong leaders that were under her previously? They left. More than one was moved from her a few years ago and one guy got fired (or left). She sacked several leaders that had been around for a while and knew the environment/etc. and brought in her clueless people.

Let's be honest here-- people don't go from head of two orgs, then to head of all of tech, only then to go BACK to head of their previous org. CS (and possibly board) didn't have confidence in what she was doing. My bet is the only reason she's still around is that there's a contract in place (and the obvious optics of her gender/looks).

She was previously the Head of Technology. No matter how you look at it, she was demoted as she now reports to her replacement, the current Head of Technology.

“ If she doesn’t know much about AI, why put her in a lead position over…….”

She is a “leader” being groomed to lead orgs. Too bad she’s a poor learner and has poor trainers. This is pretty standard ops for Executives, not actually knowing what they govern. The argument is that a Leader doesn’t really need to know the finite details of what they govern, the role is to manage their responsible hierarchy.

A good leader, supervisor, manager can have zero experience with whatever end product those under them generate and be fully successful. But they must A. trust those who they govern (learn from them if they truly don’t have experience with their product) and B. have good people being governed. It can’t just be people management with a horse whip as the goal should be to get those under your umbrella into a situation where they are happy. And that involves knowing the environment and being able to advocate not only for the staff but for the goals of the environment.

If she doesn’t know much about AI, why put her in a lead position over something that’s known to have privacy issues?

Like others said, she has made the big bucks by getting on her knee pads. No value at all.

The only intelligence she has is about Lemon Trees . She is one of the last people that should be associated with Intelligence(Artificial or otherwise). If you are truly a data scientist then you are already more qualified than her.

Someone wrote earlier that the male leaders like her because she is bubbly and hot. Hot she is not , but she does know how to kiss up .

This is yet another example of this bank reacting. JPM is rolling out its program, called LLM Suite, consisting of ChatGPT on their own LLM model, to help more than 60,000 employees with tasks like writing emails and reports. CS looks down and sees he has nothing covering this. Good job for TK... that's why he is paying her the big bucks. By the time WF has AI they will be more than 5 years behind. Customarily for WF.

She's not even good enough to be a Sr. Manager let alone head of tech or head of CL and AI. Also, she's not heading all of AI. She's supposed to lead Generative AI (like LLM stuff). And that stuff WAS part of CM's world. And all the ML/AI (non generative) is still in that org. It makes zero sense for Gen AI to be in TK's new world. But she'll find a way to f that up too.

She's an AI guru all right, but AI doesn't have the same acronym meaning in her case.
