Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Citi vs wells

Im considering an opportunity at wells. My current comp at citi svp is 200k salary plus bonus

  1. is that possible to get at a senior lead role? Appears to be within the band but the band is wide
  1. citi doesn’t have the best rep. Apparently so doesn’t wells? Is this career su----e?

Babes we all want to get OUT of Wells. Do NOT come here. You will regret it 100000%.

The way they decide salaries at wells is odd. Massive salary bands. Usually they try and give just below the middle range.however I’ve seen people get towards the very top range as well.

You won't get 200k when they can hire 5 seasoned Indians to do the same job for half the pay. Current state of affairs, not a knock on you or your talent, just the CS way.

There is an area differential but it’s not enough to justify the COLA increase

p5 which is senior lead, in most cases does not have area differential so whether you work in SF/NY or MSP your making the same.

Thanks all

OP here. The range goes up to 267. Is it still unlikely to get 200 for a seasoned professional?

  1. Your Citi compensation is too high for Senior Lead - P5.
  1. Depends on your goals and area of work, this is a very personal

question, I can't answer that for you.

Stay away from this shithole. Your job will be offshore eventually.

Yeah, swing over for a year or two, get in the 200K range and go back a couple levels up

The fun thing is fast since I’m internal and a P4 - they’ll offer me at most a 20% increase, which would be around the $145K mark

Plus I hear no real raises until next year and no commitment either, so I could get stuck in the same salary for more responsibilities

But yeah, Chase, Citi, BoA will get brought in much higher than an internal promotion

I tried to go from wells to Citi. I applied and spoke to a Citi recruiter. Was told that it’s difficult to get people to move from wells to Citi because Citi thinks that wells pays better. I withdrew my Citi app.

I have noticed that wells appears to have a smaller gap in pay between NY/SF and places like Charlotte or Minneapolis when compared to other banks when looking at NY/SF and their cheaper core locations.
