Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco China R&D Center (CRDC)

Cisco likely to close all of CRDC in the near term. This would be about 2K people. In 2024 engineers in China are more expensive than you think.

How did you find out that Chinese employees are very rich?

Majority of US Tech companies are pulling out of China because (1) there is no money to be made - ask IBM, HP, Dell/EMC, Oracle etc. etc. (2) The geo political issue - Chinese government does not really welcome US companies anymore. US government does not want US products developed or manufactured in China either. This move started some 10-15 years ago, so it will be a slow landing to ground unless a drastic changes of geo political situation. IBM just closed its CRDC finally. This is unfortunate, but it is the reality.

Nothing more to research I guess. Going to buy our way in from now on. Forget this innovation game. Easier to just spend and cut.
