Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I got an obscure meeting invite on monday

Like the title says. About 100 people on the call. Mass culling ?

Decline the meeting. Personal emergency. Force them to have the conversation.

Cisco has done and will do mass video firings… 100%. Have your off network device ready to record the whole thing.

There were two mass layoff phone calls last month - one with Cisco IT/CX and one with App D. It could absolutely be a mass layoff. It could also be a "you're safe" call. I wish I could relieve your mind, but you honestly can't know. Hang in there.

Assuming, Monday September 16 is the date, typically your manager will send out a 30 minute one on one or business update meeting invite between close of business Friday and Monday morning. The invites are typicall before noon.

A later invite can be a late LR or you are safe and we need to discuss next steps.

They’re not going to ask you to move your meetings in advance… they’ll just schedule over them!

I have a one on one with my third line on Friday - Fingers crossed I'll be one to go.
Funny thing is I have problem solving meets set for Monday. If I go, they can figure out their problems themselves. I wish I knew for sure though, my managers do know that there are meetings set for monday and have not asked to have them moved.

Please don’t post obscure posts only to cause further confusion and more anxiety. Include relevant data at least to identify BU, technology, location etc.

That's crazy if they sent out an invite this early to increase anxiety. Hope it's good news

If it’s a big invite and has a list of names in the invite instead of aliases and manager groups, it’s mostly to let the people in the to list know their safe. Some leaders do it that way just to reduce the confusion in the teams. Like one of the LR cycles I ended up emailing an engineer who had been impacted, only for the manager to let me know. So an invite like this helps! Other companies do it always after their LR rounds.

I don’t think Cisco’s fallen to the level of layoff by mass emails, but I could be wrong.

AppD sales got booted in the exact same way. Did not have the time to call each individual easier to run a webex event center with 1 way audio

Not to worry about meeting invite. There is big party planned on 16th (Monday). You are invited. Have a fun and enjoy. Do not drink and drive

It could also just be a meeting to say everyone there is safe. Let's wait for Monday to see the results and potential individual impact.
