P5 Senior Lead HCOL Compensation

Hi - i'm interviewing for a P5 Specialist role and was told to expect ~190-200k base and about 30% of that as bonus.

is that a good rate for P5 specialist in a very high HCOL? How much would a P6 principal make?

Why would you care what a P6 makes if you applied to a P5? Makes no sense unless you are trolling.

Talk to the actual recruiter, you are a troll. Information you get here is not reliable.

“p5 and above don't have area differentials.”
Incorrect information. Sure they do.

“P5 got 30% and P6 got 40%”
Incorrect information. Subtract 10% off each.

Absolutely be are not sales roles

My bonus has remained stagnant over the last 4 years so is a lower percentage each year based on my salary.

There have not been bonus percentages for a few years now, so not sure where you are getting the 30 percent unless you are looking at past bonus numbers. I am a P5 at $225k and my bonus in one of the business groups is $95k a year.

p5 and above don't have area differentials. $200k give or take is on par for a p5 along with 30% bonus.

There are no targeted bonuses anymore so if someone is telling you that it’s probably not true. They won’t give you a % anymore.

Some of you have it wrong.

When target bonuses were a thing, P4 got 20%, P5 got 30% and P6 got 40%+.

However, prior to 2019, they were all 10% more so P4 was at 30%, P5 was at 40%...

Target bonuses have been removed but should still be around those numbers, although I actually heard external bonuses were coming in lower bc they weren't "grandfathered" into the old numbers that internal employees have... external salaries are coming in higher, though.

Sorry, 20%, not “0%” but still not 30%.

Sounds like you are being mislead, to me. P6 would be 30% in the old world but they are trying to walk that down. Hard to believe an external P5 offer would get more than 0% (and those are in writing, not “told”).

It doesn't sound that great for HCOL.

Be happy you are external. They are balking at giving p5 170k and not allowing negotiations or raises to most internal promotions. Actually glad you posted to see how much they sc--w over internal candidates.
