CLT office switching from HDV clients to laptop docking stations

My floor in Charlotte is switching from thin clients to old fashioned laptop docking stations. What is the motive behind this ? Its like going back in time ... A cost cutting measure ? Staff reduction measure ??

Some units have thin clients with hvds and laptops for home. Mine is one of them. They use badge swipes and authenticator location for tracking.

Re HVD being untrackable home vs office, the virtual machine may not know which computer it is performing on, but one has to get on the network in the first place, which can be tracked.

@3tvv+1ut3v7KO - I want my HVD!

(a riff on the classic "I want my MTV!" - cue Sting and Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) on guitar.)

Easier for them to track you when we go 5 days a week in office starting Jan 1

With HVD if you have a corp laptop too - you can be logged in at home and office. they can’t tell if you are in office or not.

HVD can’t handle the capacity.
