Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

How was your exit experience?

I know there are folks who quit but still lurk here, so this is a question for you. How was your experience when you left? Did you follow the standard two weeks' notice, or was there a different process in place? I'm not far from quitting myself, so I'm curious to know if everything went smoothly or if there were any bumps along the way.

There is no law that says you have to give notice. The company must pay you for every hour you worked and they can NOT withhold anything you are owed . I wouldn't worry about burning bridges. Find a new job, secretly clear out your things on a Friday and start your new job on Monday Let them figure out where you went. Don't tell them sh-t

I retired in early 2023, joining the exodus of long-time employees from Clifton. While most of the exits were salaried people, there were a few bargaining unit folks retiring early as well. My exit was bizarre. I gave a month notice. I was a good employee for nearly 20 years. There was no party, no send off and only contempt from my supervisor for "leaving him hanging". But weirdly, a week before my last day, I was called into a private meeting with the then Director of Operations. He asked me to keep it private (but since he has also left the company, it doesn't matter now.)
He offered me my supervisor's job! But he said candidly that it would only be a 4% increase over my current union pay. The S-B was trying to low ball me. Of course I turned it down. As it turns out, my supervisor was demoted 3 weeks later, the aforementioned director left the company 6 months later, and 14 months after I left, my supervisor, my manager and a whole bunch of other senior people were let go. I guess I made the right decision. But as far as my exit, there was no exit interview and even though I have a secret clearance, there was no security debriefing. Even my union president could not explain my retirement benefits. It was like the place was being run by the Marx Brothers except that no one is laughing ... no one except me.

I left Huntsville in June 2023. I saw it all going downhill after the Merger. So, I got out way ahead. No regrets! I was so sick of the lack of leadership, I just could not do it anymore. I put in the standard 2 weeks. All went well. Did the exit interview, which just basically was signing forms. There were no questions or emphasis on why I was leaving. It was short and simple.

I gave less than two weeks' notice. More like a week and a half. They weren't angry about it, but they did not counteroffer either.

I retired in early 2022 after 20 years of service in Clifton. I was a union member during that whole time. There was no exit interview of any kind when I left.
I was told when my last day came, to stop at the guard shack and turn in my badge and that I wouldn't be allowed back into the property. As if I would have any reason to come back. The feeling I got was one of don't let the door hit you in the a-s. I'm so glad I left before all of this nonsense began. I found this website after hearing about so many former colleagues being laid off about 14 months after I retired. I got lucky. I left at a time of my choosing. I wish you all the best of luck. Don't look back. Don't ever look back.

Some were walked out immediately after they resigned ... they weren't allowed to work the notice period they provided. Others were not ... no consistency.

I gave notice, and fulfilled my 2 weeks, right before the April 12th layoff so it maybe different now. My team was happy for me and appreciative of the work I did.

When I gave notice in Clifton I was called 'disloyal for leaving the company in it's time of need
When I turned down a promotion for a lousy 3 percent; I was told not to tell anyone! Finally I was threatened with never being welcomed back if things didn't work out.. my only regret was giving notice at all
Imagine ghosting after 22 years!

I didn’t have any issues when I left. I was a little apprehensive when I gave my notice to my manager since I wasn’t sure the policy if they would try kicking me to the curb immediately or not. But it worked out and I was able to work out my notice and didn’t have any real issues. Probably biggest thing wasn’t using any PTO since I had hardly used any prior to leaving… and since it’s “unlimited” that means you do not get any paid out for not using it.

One of the 1st things they’ll check is whether you owe any $$$. The best to you.
