Runs one of what? I used to work for the federal government and as a previous poster said, they don’t furnish reports to private companies. And Wells Fargo does not have access to your tax info. That’s just ludicrous. And as far as the work number, you can block that.

Nonsense they get reports from social security. A government agency isn’t furnishing reports to private companies like Wells Fargo.

Not nonsense. WF just runs one of these at the end of 60 days, it's automated, and if a new employer shows up during your 60 day period it is considered job abandonment by you and your severance is pulled.

The Work Number (TWN) Employment Data Report (EDR) is a consumer report that provides a person's employment and income history as it appears in The Work Number database. The EDR also includes a list of any entities that have requested a person's information within the past two years

I retired in the spring and had to give them 60 day notice as an exec dir. I took a job with a consulting company three weeks into my notice period, never an issue.

They get reports from Social Security for people who are on 60 day notice and severance. If you are paid by another company they will find out. They don't want to pay any portion of benefits longer than they have to so they DO AND WILL find out. Now if you aren't actually on the clock and working for someone else during the 60 day notice period it shouldn't be an issue.

It is not even known how they can detect employment during Notice. Many opinions offered here but, no anecdotes about bona fide severance clawbacks and how the new employment was detected.

During the 60 day notice you are considered an employee. Regular employees accept other offers during their working tenure here all the time. That is essentially what you would be doing so not sure why it would be an issue. As someone else stated, for tax purposes the working report would only show the actual days your working.

I don't know about the previous reply. I can't imagine it would be a problem unless you started working during your 60-day notice period.

No. Not if they find out about it. But there’s no reason they should. They can tell if you’re working and paying taxes, but they can’t tell if you’ve signed a piece of paper.
