Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Feeling lost after being laid off

A month ago I was laid off after six years at Wells Fargo, and it's really messing with me. I thought I'd retire there. Now, I'm scared the next job won't be as good. I know I can find something else, I've already had some offers, but the change feels overwhelming. It all feels so unfair.

Grab it jerk on it pop pop oh what a relief it is. At least provides momentary diversion. Su-k it up buttercup. This is not the venue to get psych evaluation from lurkers on a forum. Life is hard. Get a dog, name it life, then you'll have one.

Trust me. There is life after Wells Fargo. I got thrown out after 36 years. This company could care less about you. Move forward and never look back!

Cut yourself some slack, OP. A layoff will take people through the stages of grief. A month isn’t remotely long enough to get you through them. The job isn’t who you are but it IS where you spent a lot of time. You’ll know when to take something new and if it turns out to be the wrong thing, jump to another one. You’ve got this. You are most definitely going to be okay.

It messes with you. I was laid off almost a year ago and it has been difficult. Best of luck to you.

So sorry you are going through this difficult time. Even though it doesn't feel like it; it will get better. If you are getting offers you are ahead of a lot of folks who have been laid off.

Change is hard, and change that is thrust upon you against your will is the hardest.
It’s the end of the world as you know it, and that is not hyperbole.
Of course you don’t feel good. It would be strange if you did. But time wounds all heels, I mean heals all wounds, and this too shall pass.
Soon you’ll be in your new gig, trading war stories with your new friends, and yours will always win. And WF will be nothing but a source of amusement.

It is so assuring to see the good of people supporting each other in this tread. Be strong and to others that find themselves in this situation know this too shall pass. 100% use the resources that are there for you.

If you are in the 60 day notice period you should still have access the to ERP. They have free 6 sessions of therapy they pay for. Take advantage of that paid resource. You won't regret getting free, needed help from a professional. Do it for yourself.

Your experiencing the same emotions of a person discarded by a narcissist ... and you were actually. ... stop yearning for the far and few good times of the past . It didn't exist, you were gaslighted to stay in a toxic environment and give it your all. Now is the time to embrace you and all you have to offer to a decent, fair and honest employer. Be strong, move on and trade up. You got this.

I highly suggest you find a therapist, OP. You can't go on and have these feelings without them being validated. If you don't it will impact your personal healing in this time of great angst, grief, and worry. There are some great resources out on TT and other social media that bring together stories like yours to better fully understand the psyche and the total unfairness of at will employment.
OR, you can go grab another beer, chill the F' out, deal with it and move on.

It’s ok to have feelings of grief, guilt and worry. When I was laid off I got deeper into my gardening hobby. My wife loved how nice the yard and flowers looked and said it lifted her spirits looking at it. It Was a great stress reliever and even strengthened my bond with the kids. You are more than your career. Just stay positive and you will make to the other side, a better version of yourself.

6 months from now when you're working elsewhere, you'll be glad you left. It's just the temporary chaos that drives up the blood pressure. Better times are ahead, just hold on!
