Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

A full month without the CWA workers shows they aren't needed

Unnecessary overhead. Time to explore less expensive, more productive options.

"The value returned for $2xx spent on a contractor"

Haven't heard Value mentioned in the bargaining rhetoric. I would think the CWA would be very vocal about the value their workers bring.

"The value returned for $2xx spent on a contractor is 6.19 times the value returned when that same amount is spent on the bargained for worker"

Provides a better understanding of the company being in no hurry to resolve the Strike.

Bring in a cutter like Elon Musk and rid the company of these cancers once and for all.

Surely the CWA bargaining team was aware of this before making such ridiculous demands?

"If management employees have been able to match the union employee output, why is ATT bringing in contractors at $200/hour to get the work done"

This week's cost analysis report indicates a contractor is a flat rate $2xx/hour. The average hourly expense for a bargained for worker is calculated as hourly rate + proportioned benefit costs. The value returned for $2xx spent on a contractor is 6.19 times the value returned when that same amount is spent on the bargained for worker. Contractors are a more efficient use of the money.

Yawn, same boring topic. There are 2 CP per vehicle or job, CP workers are doing the bare minimum on scrubbed tickets. Closing unfinished tickets and temporizing repairs, that’s just on the one’s they don’t turn back. Installs not getting done and sales not getting paid, provisioning is happening at the bare minimum too. Hard to sell service when dates are being pushed out so far, something like 4-6 weeks in most circumstances. Thanks Stankey, some of your first Core negotiations aren’t going well. Just like the rest of your poor M&A decisions.

Can’t blame most of them, being forced to do unpaid extra work 12 hours a day, 6 to 7 days a week in varying conditions and it’s potentially dangerous work. Most are away from their families. In contrast with the majority of CP, there are a few managers like engineers that are getting paid and getting OT.

"The longer the union is out, the more data the company has on what is actually needed"

Indeed. I was significantly surprised to see 1 CP worker was able to match the contribution of 11 Union workers. As noted by others here, the managed employee side of the house is also performing well while the CP workers are deployed. There is an opportunity here to make more intelligent force reduction decisions in the future.

The same is being proven true for nonessential managers currently on CP assignments. Most will be surplused shortly after returning to their regular work assignments.

Managers do not contribute significantly to the work being done by actual workers. Let's eliminate non-contributing managers who take credit for others' work.

I place as much value on the union as ATT did in our personal information and social security numbers.

The Union is a bleeding wound that can't be made better with a bandaid. The Company needs to implement a permanent solution.

The longer the union is out, the more data the company has on what is actually needed. This type of data isn’t available during a regular workweek. Tech tend to blend the results of ESM. The longer this goes, the more likely Article 14 will be changed to allow Contractors in more areas of work.
