The plan is to have headcount reductions from locations where cp employees are deployed from. Plan is to reduce by 40% on first wave when strike is over.

It is logical: the union gets what they want, and the leadership compensates for the added benefits by laying off employees

None of us union people had any doubts about surpluses after contract negotiations just as management shouldn't have any doubts CP deployment, reduced union headcount, etc will stop the exec from continuing with their already decided number of heads to reduce.

Management layoffs will accelerate once the strike ends since it has now been demonstrated most managers on CP assignments really are nonessential.

Stankey is bringing attrition to fruition.
Less is more, more or less.
Can't argue with his performance, he has the stock at a all time high and morale is the best I have ever seen.
Managers are getting Caribbean vacations for the holidays.

It is logical: the union gets what they want, and the leadership compensates for the added benefits by laying off employees / reducing headcount. This is the only way to decrease headcount at the worker level. It's a win-win for both parties, under the guise of providing benefits to a reduced headcount. You have to see through the smoke on both sides.

This is true. There were layoffs scheduled for yesterday that were pushed off to the beginning of next year as a result of the strike.

It's going to be the ultimate culling for non-management pending apporval from the union.
