Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Layoff Wave 2 Complete?

I know some were just informed on Sept. 9th, two weeks and they are gone. When is wave 3 starting? Will that be the last one or has another wave been announced yet? Maybe in the upcoming town-hall we will get more answers.

I’m tired of being anxious, stressed and seeing my peers being let go. My workload, hours keeps increasing and I no longer feel valued so, I’m starting the process of seeking employment elsewhere. I started working here 25 years ago but it’s time to go, my mental health and work/life balance is more important. The toxic environment has become untenable, was hoping that there would be leadership and culture change for the better but it hasn’t happened.

I also was told mid-2025 by someone director level…so unless they’re going to just drop a ‘surprise’ on everyone this seems unlikely.

Might depend on BU.

This is correct:
“ Waive 2 layoffs are in progress. Last cohort is expected to graduate Dec 9. At least in Legg organization. Also some people impacted were granted extension and moved to waive 3.”

Wave 3 exit or report to new loc are in 2025. If it was accelerated then do share which BU.

“↓ ↓ ↓ Oh, and those are all people who were moved to Wave 3 and told by end of year 2025.”

So you’re trying to say wave 3 was moved up for everyone or just the people with extensions?

Fear mongering

Unfortunately not. Letters going out in Legg org within 2 weeks. You get about 2 weeks to give an answer. If you decline the kind invitation to report to a new city/state, you will be off payroll with a quickness, and definitely before EOY, depending on how quickly everything falls into place paperwork wise. If you say you will follow the job, you will be reporting to your new hub location by end of Q1 2025.

“The meat of ATS will be Israel, the potatoes, India. The grunt work and pet projects will remain in the states and wound down in a disorderly fashion. No need for glorified individual contributors, spreadsheet wizards, lumpy L3,4s, or JSON coding jackals. We’re winding down in case you hadn’t noticed. Bulldozing at a fairly good pace I might add.Still plenty of marshmallow fluff but we’ll get there. Wave’s were just for shock and awe like the first phase of Operation Desert Storm. Good luck and keep your head up so they know who to target.”

If this is the level of education and technical knowledge of management, I can see why the company is failing and thinking they can just offload all this technical work.

“No need for developers” as we migrate all of our software over to Ericssons new platform that we just spent $14B on….
What id--ts we have working here.

“Legg Wave 3 letters by end of month. Answer in October. Off payroll November I think, if I remember correctly or in designated office March 25.”

Fear mongering…wave 2 people were on payroll for many months after saying no to moving…some still are especially in critical roles.

I’m hearing 2025+ for wave 3 especially networking and other areas.

Stankeyism, it will go to the history as the worst corporate policy ever.

so you're not safe just because they've already started Wave 2.

Wave 3, sorry.

Some Wave 3 letters went out the week the strike started. Heads up was given that another round of Wave 3 letters goin out by the end of the month. I'm sure Wave 2 is also still going, so you're not safe just because they've already started Wave 2.

The irony and the imagery is that waves overlap and just keep coming.

It will only continue to get worse until they do a top down clean house. For the past 7 years it has just gotten worse and worse every year. I quit caring this year. Been looking for jobs but the economy is pretty bad for white collar jobs. Hard to find work right now. But, like the OP, I’m out of here. Made up my mind.

As ATS, I can see where we fall in the valued rank, if there is such a thing anymore. What HR and Stankey has done with bargained labor negotiations, the rest of us don’t have a chance, what a cluster. They have already offshored a lot of my peers work and laid them off. Just like the OP, looking for other employment.
