Sad day. My 13 year career has come to and end.

Easy to see the Microsoft and Okta trolls in this thread. Can't wait to weigh in on your layoffs, bootlickers.
Moat of the Duo engineers are stupid and arrogant as--s. That product really does 1 thing. MFA. It does a few other things but nothing special
I remember being laid of in 2011 with 4,000 other great professionals. It gets better but today is very hard. I'm sorry this happened.
For me they offered a recruiting placement office in San Jose near the airport that became my new office. Great people and an opportunity to stay in touch with many others who were job searching. I landed a job at eBay in 4 months and started a new adventure that was even better.
Fast forward to 2024 - I just retired from ServiceNow in July after 34 years in Tech. Cisco was a great experience and provided building blocks that I used for the rest of my career.
There are some great companies and teams out there and as an ex-hiring manager, Cisco still looks really good on a resume.
All the best and I am praying for you all right now.
I agree. Duo is clunky, slow and intrusive. It’s done. I’ve had many struggles with its sorry excuse for user friendliness. Not saying that I don’t feel for the people impacted, but the writing was on the wall.
If Duo when deployed in “real” companies is anything like the fu---d up basketcase deployment of Duo inside Cisco then no wonder. Is it really that bad? Surely Cisco IT could have made a better job so that our own people felt enthused about it? Duo and 2FA at Cisco is utterly fu---d up.
Just got laid off from Duo at the very end of the day. It’s been a rough one, and to make things worse, my manager told me there are still more layoffs coming tomorrow. It’s a surreal feeling after putting in so much time and effort. Really tough to see this happening to so many great people.
I have to agree with the sentiment here. Duo serves its purpose as an MFA tool, but that’s about it—there’s nothing particularly special about it. When you compare it to what Microsoft and Google offer for free, it’s hard to justify sticking with Duo. It feels outdated, and the features don’t really stand out anymore. Cisco’s acquisition only sped up the decline, as they tend to drain the life out of everything they acquire. Honestly, this outcome was predictable.
Y’all know so much about Duo, you can’t even get the capitalization right. 😆
yeah, I'm with the last poster.
Duo is a simple MFA tool. It does what it does well, I'll give you that, but eventually it has 1 job and it's not rocket science.
Convince me otherwise.
WTF does anyone need DUO? Microsoft and Google can do 95% of the features for free. Not being a troll but realistic guys, you should have seen this coming. Anyways, I’m sorry you were laid off. Cisco destroys everything it comes into contact with .
Very sad to hear - but Duo folks are all very good and talented, and after some time off will rebound possibly in an even better position. That's just such a hassle, and let's be honest, no one likes being laid off.
I'm very surprised to see as much Duo in here as I am ; I wasn't expecting that. What roles are being hit at Duo ?

I'm really sorry to hear about getting laid off, and I can imagine how tough it must be. I have a one-on-one with my manager at 3:30 today, and I’m feeling pretty nervous about it.
I totally feel you. I’ve been thinking a lot about the days in the Ann Arbor office before the Cisco acquisition—it was such a different vibe back then. It’s tough seeing what’s happening now. Wishing everyone the best as we all navigate this.
I just had my one-on-one with my manager, and unfortunately, I was let go as well. It’s tough to see so many amazing people being affected. After investing so much time and effort here, it’s surreal to have it all come to an end. Wishing everyone the best during this difficult time.
It’s a tough time at Duo right now, and unfortunately, I've been impacted as well. It’s been hard to watch the changes since the Cisco acquisition, and morale has really taken a hit. I’ve loved being part of Duo and the work we’ve done, but I’m now actively looking for new opportunities. While it’s a sad transition, I’m hopeful for the future and looking forward to the next chapter.
I’m at Duo and there are folks getting impacted here. Very sad day. Sadly, I think Cisco has completely destroyed the morale. At least for me personally, I’m quickly looking for an exit.
This is not true. Very minimal impact to Duo.
Why would duo get hit? We not making money on it? Getting beat by Microsoft? Duo is one of our better products and gears towards the future of security
I'm not sure I believe anyone who says DUO instead of Duo.
It hurts and it’s a shock. But take it from many of us who’ve left the brainwashing and you’ll be much better off once you detox. Hang in there.
Which team
which teams?
Sorry bud. You'll get through this.
