Is it worth to wait for sub-pay?

Come in and do your job every day and you can retire from BNY? Someone typed that with a straight face?

Uh, facts don’t bear that out. In my area, almost every single person who worked there with me was unceremoniously run off sooner or later. I’m talking good, hard working people for the most part.

People who get solid performance reviews… until they suddenly wouldn’t. “The bar has been raised,” they’d be told, when the truth was, the department was increasingly understaffed and everyone was set up to fail.

I used to want to wait for sub pay considering I’ve been with the bank a long time. But now with them picking and choosing who to apply certain policies to, it’s a roll of the dice. Example, in Q3 2024 someone with around 20 years at the bank was fired for non adherence to RTO in 2023. Did they fire everyone for non-compliance in 2023? Nope. Only someone who they would have to pay 40+ weeks to if they had done the right thing and laid off the person. And before the RTO warriors come after me, I’m well aware the bank can enforce this. However there are probably hundreds of people, if not a few thousand, who weren’t 100% compliant in 2023. They waited until the second half of 2024 to fire this person for it. If you’re going to stand by your policies, then apply them to everyone.

Depends on how long you’ve worked for the bank

Have you worked here for 20 years? Then maybe it is worth it.

The job market su-ks right now so it may take a long time to find something. If you only get a few months of sub pay and you think you will be laid off soon, I'd start looking for a new job asap.

How can anyone else possibly answer that for you? Every situation is different.
