Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

VP Level, job prospects

How long have folks been looking before they land a position? I have a very strong network and have reached out to everyone, but after 7 months nothing has materialized. I am looking at positions in the $160K range

"Thank the current admin for this."

No one asked you who to thank. But we all appreciate the political drive-by.

NOT.

Job searches right now routinely take six months to even a year. And be prepared for a likely reduction in pay. This is just how the job market is at the moment.

I got an AVP title late spring and was told that there was no additional compensation for it. My manager also said that maybe by June he would know more. At the end of June I got laid off. Well, I guess that was the "more" part.

YOE, location, & what you do are what drive the pay. For that level of pay, you should expect 6 (avg) -12 (negative) months of unemployment. Thank the current admin for this.

I was told years ago that the letters of VP from both the insurance and the banking industries is simply a manager in another corporate entity. Sometimes, even less. ESPECIALLY when it comes to those doing loans. And guess who is aware of this, yep, recruiters. So think of the functions from your role, and look for similar.

"senior assistance vice president" at $130K here... They handed these out like lollipops to our whole department with the last round of title changes. Really don't care for the title it's more belittling than its worth.

Ha ha, my dog has a higher title that VP! That title is just to make you feel important! Otherwise it's just two extra letter behind your name. You will never make what you did here and especially won't get a title like that! WF is the laughing stock of banking!

Get over the VP title. VP means you're a very senior, highly paid executive within a company. However, at Wells they hand the title out like candy, to entry-level IT engineers among others. It means absolutely nothing and you will never find another job with a VP title for the rest of your life. So get over it.

Hate to tell you this but “VP” is just a fake title that Wells Fargo gave you to give you the warm fuzzies in lieu of paying you more. It won’t do anything for you in the real world.

I make 107k and am also a VP. My friend makes 120k and has a director title. Titles mean NOTHING outside of wells. 🤦‍♀️

OP, what is your LOB and function? Give whatever you can without giving too much. Helps to understand what you do etc to talk about what prospects are in the wild.

VP level? Your VP banking title means nothing outside of banking.

You are not going to land a traditional corporate VP job just because you had a VP title at Wells.
